My New £25/$32 Cyberpunk Controller
tldr: I now have a fully functional Cyberpunk 2077 controller for a total of £25/$31 by fixing a faulty one I bought. Final Result:

So I’ve been meaning to get a spare Xbox controller for quite a while, I currently only have the one that came with my Cyberpunk Xbox One X. I have never opened one of these up but I love tinkering so I was looking for cheap faulty controllers with the intention of getting one with some joystick drift and trying to fix it. My eBay search resulted in a “faulty” Cyberpunk controller auction.
The description only said “Condition is for parts or not working.” so I decided to chance it. I figured since it’s currently sold out and retailing on amazon for £84/$99 (Is anyone actually paying this for them? Insanity!) I could pay about £30/$38 and still afford a second-hand parts controller that might be in poor condition (do a shell swap) and come in under what a new controller would cost me.
Surprisingly I ended up winning the auction for just over £21/$26 and when it arrived, these were my initial observations:
  1. Something is rattling around inside the case, but not every time I shook the controller(?).
  2. LB kept getting stuck.
  3. Visually the controller looked new/ in really good shape.
I plugged it in and here’s what I got after using this awesome little controller tester I saw TronicsFix use “Gamepad Tester” https://gamepad-tester.com/

Here were my observations:
  1. Once you clicked LB it became stuck.
  2. RT was completely unresponsive.
  3. Everything else was really responsive and worked well.
What surprised me was just how well everything else worked - the joysticks were very responsive as you can see in the video.
I opened the controller up and very quickly saw what the issues were. The thing rattling around was a magnet that was meant to be in the RT assembly - it kept getting stuck on the main rumble motor which explains why it only rattled sometimes.
The magnet casing was completely snapped off on the right side, explaining why there was no sign of life in RT and the LB issue was due to the left-hand side assembly being broken too but this time at the hinge.

Speculation time. I am assuming this was just a case of rage gone wrong - right? *maybe\* it just fell, but I think it’s far more likely that the previous owner raged - What do you think?
It took me a few minutes to find the right part. I tried googling for xbox trigger frames and trigger assembly and got nothing but what ended up showing actual results was “trigger holder” - go figure! Quick note if you’re doing your own repair, double-check what controller you have because I almost ordered the older style controller version.
I had the option of either going with a part from AliExpress or eBay, but the total cost (shipment included) only differed by £1/$1.3 on eBay AND I didn’t have to wait a month of delivery. If I had a repair shop I’d absolutely go with AliExpress and make a bulk order but for a one off? eBay made more sense. Plus it was only £4/$5 including shipping.

The actual repair was easier than I thought, after figuring out what the best way of getting the pin out that was holding the assembly together it was a fairly easy process: Remove pin > Pick up the spring and the pin > move over the magnet into the new holder > align it into the controller > pop the pin in partially > put the spring in place > push the pin in all the way > put the rumble motor on > place the trigger cap on > screw it in.
I’m actually a little disappointed it all went as smoothly as it did but this was so much fun I’m actually looking for a new controller project as we speak!

Now, allow me to give a little background on PMQ and the current state of things.

Background

I started playing on Grobbulus a few months ago with some of my old guildmates when our raiding guild on another server kinda fell apart. A few days in, a couple of us joined some strangers for a Deadmines run... which turned into a 2-hour over-the-top RP campaign. It was a blast! And based on that run, someone in the group came up with this idea: wouldn't it be cool if there was an addon where you could write your own quests and share them with other people?
The closest thing I could find to this was TRP3: Extended, which is only compatible with retail and does a LOT more than just quests. It's an impressive-looking addon, but I felt like there was an opportunity to develop something for Classic players. I'd never written a WoW addon before, but I had plenty of experience with software development, so I decided to try tackling the problem. What would it take to make an addon like this a reality?
Now fast-forward, 6 months and 7,000 lines of code later, and that brings us to today. I can confidently say that it is possible! You can download PlayerMadeQuests today and start writing and sharing quests with your friends. The quests you write will play just like WoW quests, with real-time objective tracking, and even the same UI frames and sound effects as real quests. Here's a couple of screenshots if you'd like to see it in action:

How you can help

As it currently stands in Beta, the minimum that I set out to achieve has been completed. You can write custom quests with just a few lines of configuration and share them with your friends.
But I'm unsure of what direction I should be heading as I continue to develop PMQ. Certainly not for lack of ideas! I've gotten plenty of ideas from people who have tested the addon, and I have plenty of my own. But every idea takes time to develop, and I want to focus on developing features and making changes that players actually want. Here are a few of the big features I have in mind:
Now, I've never been particularly tuned-in to the RP community in WoW, but I know a lot of folks on this subreddit are, and I want to hear from you. First and foremost, is this the kind of addon that you could see yourself using regularly? If so...
Even if you're not into RP, maybe you just want to make quests to challenge yourself or your friends. I had one beta-tester tell me he was writing a quest to track his raid consumable drops, like Winterfall Firewater. Outside of the RP aspect, what features do you think would make a fun or useful quest?
Finally, if you haven't tried PMQ but are interested in this kind of thing, I'd love for you to download it and let me know what you think. I want to hear what works, what doesn't, and how it can be improved. There are 6 demo quests for each faction packaged with the addon, complete with code that you can copy into your own quests. So you can get started quickly by just modifying the provided code.

SUPERHOT was founded in 2014 in Łódź by a team of underdogs with lots of videogamish and non-videogamish experience. This soul breaking marathon of a project culminated in the release of SUPERHOT for Steam in February 2016. The game immediately became a global best-seller, showered the team with industry awards, critical acclaim, and unconditional love of the amazingly positive community that gathered around SUPERHOT.
We were totally weirded out by this, so we went back to our comfy creative process and started building new stuff. SUPERHOT VR came out in December 2016 and became the world-wide #1 best-selling VR game on PC. In 2017 both SUPERHOT titles saw themselves launch on new platforms and in new markets, leaving the core creative team hard at work on SUPERHOT: Mind Control Delete - the third game in the SUPERHOT franchise that gives you more insight into the world of SUPERHOT, more story, more signature gameplay. We released it in July 2020 and gave away around 2 million free copies, making this possibly the biggest giveaway in gaming history.

I really think that bugs like this, is critical for the game, and we should not wait an entire work week for something like this to get patched. Something like this should get a hotfix asap, its literally taking ALL the fun out of Heist League. I only have a few hours a week to play, so this is really pulling my hair.
I've never complained on Reddit about a league before. I have decent amounted of played time. But this is possible the worst feeling I've had in a new league.
Don't get me wrong, I love POE and GGG! But right now, I have a feeling they're on a down way spiral towards bad customer experience. League after league, there is major critical errors, and its becoming frustrating worse.
The joke about 'we are beta testers' on league release is spot on right now!
What are you guys thoughts about either hotfix or patch? Should something like reward rooms be a hotfix ASAP or a patch a week later?

TL;DR: I recently added a bunch of new features to Polymart, which is now home to about 400 high-quality plugins. The new features include automatic discord integration, a UI Overhaul, Teams, Snapshot testing, and even more things! The marketplace has also been adopted by some large plugins, including some who are now exclusively on Polymart.
I'm sure many of you have seen my post a few months back announcing Polymart and my previous update post. Since then, I've been hard at work listening to your feedback from those posts and adding new features to Polymart for both for plugin developers and for server owners.
Polymart already has a ton of features for plugin developers, and now we're currently looking for ways to improve the experience for server owners. I'd love to hear any suggestions people have for making the website even better for server owners! (of course, I'd also love feedback from the developer's point of view)
I wanted to give you all an update on Polymart's progress. Here's just a few of the things that have been going on:

  • 400 high-quality plugins and other resources now call Polymart their home! This includes some small plugins as well as some of the most well-known plugins out there. A good amount of the plugins (including some more "well-known" ones) are also exclusively on Polymart, and can't be found anywhere else!
  • Automatic Discord Integration allows you to automatically send messages to your Discord server when updates are posted, or when other actions happen on your resource (like reviews, purchases, etc). There's also some new API actions for verifying a user's Discord identity on Polymart, which you can use to verify buyers on your Discord server: https://polymart.org/wiki/api#generateUserVerifyURL
  • Snapshot Testing and beta testing allow you to have three different "branches" of your resource — a "recommended" version, snapshot version, and beta version. Recommended and snapshot versions are always available to the public, and you can choose to make beta versions either available to the public or restricted to certain beta testers

  • Make a Team and add new members. Then, every member on the team can post and update resources for the team! On other marketplaces, teams have to share an account, but not on Polymart
  • Even More Search Options like subcategories and searching by the author's name
  • Import buyers from Spigot and MC-Market so you can give your users a choice of where to download from. It's already being use by some of the largest plugins on Polymart!
  • Lots of other small things like two-factor authentication, an API action for uploading new versions, an improved BBCode editor, an improved mobile design, and syntax highlighting for code, to name a few

Welcome my friends once again to the Ineffable Throws update. Last time I assured you all I wasn’t dead and promised that there was more to come in the future. As many of you have seen, that was true. Pre-orders for Project: Saber are live as we speak (for 7 more days). Details for that are here, a link to pre-order is here (shameless shilling for myself). So now I suppose the questions are, why did this take so long, and what is the future of Ineffable Throws?

Making of Project: Saber

I’m a perfectionist, I want my products to have a reason to exist outside of a desire to pump out new releases. For Project:Saber I wanted to try my hand at a tri-metal. The initial design was to have a hard edge and I was thinking of a sword. A few people have pointed out that the designs I chose for the swords were not sabers, a saber is a specific type of sword with a curved blade. This is correct but the original inspiration for Project: Saber was an anime Fate/Zero and Saber was a nod to the character of the same name. The yo-yo design was meant to resemble Excalibur (if you look at the original prototype it is blue with the silver and gold looking accents).
During the beta test with the community we realized the hard edge was a bit too sharp feeling, and though I was looking for a sword motif, I didn’t want people experiencing discomfort while using the throw. We smoothed out some edges, added a bit of weight to it and tried again. Saber v2 was nice but too heavy and still just barely too sharp feeling. Also I decided that the inner brass ring was too subtle and wanted to move it so it was more prominent, back to the drawing board. V3 is where we settled, I shaved off a tiny bit of weight landing it between v1 and v2 and moved the rings. This is where we sat for a year or two.
As some of you know Ineffable is kinda like a cult classic. The people who love it, really love it, but it never went main stream. I overestimated my ability to sell Spellbound and that cost me quite a bit of time. I told myself I would not release Project: Saber until I paid off my debt from SpellBound and I stuck to that. It took longer than I planned but we are back.
Next on the agenda was art. I wanted it to be pushed even further than last time, really be something special. So I commissioned some pieces here on Reddit based on the ideas I had for each design Icewreath delivered big time. This process took a bit of time but it was worth it. I would be as bold to say that the engravings on Project: Saber are some of the best for any yo-yo that has released.
So here we are at the final stage. I designed a new case that weighs much less and is actually able to be carried around and used instead of just a display piece. Pre-orders are live and Project: Saber is just about to release. I don’t think Ineffable will ever push out a release every 6 months, its not my goal. I love the beta test with the community members, I love taking my time and making sure the experience will be something special. Which leads us into my final section for today...

The Future of Ineffable

Though this release has taken a long time, I haven’t been in hibernation. I have a lot of plans for the future and a few designs in the pipeline. I have always wanted to figure out a way to involve the community even more than I have previously. For SpellBound we did the beta and took survey results from testers to get feedback. Project: Saber saw the creation of a Discord server for feedback and design, another huge help in the process. I want to push it even further though. I’m still working out the details but I want to get the community involved even more. Maybe recording the design process, and voting on the next release (since I have several designs started). As I mentioned Ineffable is a small niche company, I like that. I want to both leverage that and reward the people who have stuck by it. I’m still finishing up Project: Saber and it will be the only thing I focus on until every pre-order is fulfilled and satisfied but I hope you will look out for Ineffable in the future. Mechanical development is done!
Dear backers and tea drinkers,
We hope you are having a great day! For this update, we are very happy to inform you that we have finished the mechanical development of the machine! Last Friday we sent over all the documentation to the manufacturer. This was a big step for us, and we are very happy with the results. Thank you for all your feedback, comments, and support, thanks to you, we are getting closer to the production of our fantastic BRU Maker.
Regarding your feedback
We love getting your feedback, we try to read and reply to every question you send us. Some of the questions we have received lately are about the timeline, so we want to clarify a bit around that. We are working hard and try to deliver to you as soon as possible. And we hope that you have the understanding that developing a new product like this takes time. First, we do not want to try and shift blame, but the pandemic did influence our timeline as well. But the main reason for the delay is that we took the decision to include several updates already in the first version of the machine. This way you will get a better machine directly. It would not feel right to ship one version of the machine to you and then soon launch a better version. We communicated this already in the post from 7th of February. Some backers have also asked which machine you will receive, and we repeat that all backers will receive the updated version.
Moving forward – Updated timeline
We have finished the mechanical development. Now we are working on the finalization of the firmware which does not affect the development of the plastic injections molds. As we have communicated before, we plan to have some parts of the firmware to be open-sourced which we hope will result in even more amazing features of our machines, developed with the help of the BRU community. Regarding the mechanical parts: The manufacturer will now need about two weeks to go through the documentation and provide us with feedback about the feasibility of all the plastic parts. This time is needed to review all parts, and to see how they can be optimized (if needed) for injection molding, and assembling. Minor modifications might be added after we receive the feedback from the manufacturer. Once this is done, we will move and order the injection molds. How long it will take to produce the injections molds we will also know after the manufacturer has reviewed all the components in detail. With that being said, the updated timeline now looks like this:
Mid-October: Kick-Off for mold production
End-November: Production of batch 0
December: Testing and shipping of the first batches
To avoid any concerns about the delay: Initially, we planned to ship out the (old) version of BRU in April/May 2020. The mentioned timeline is really tight, but we push all involved service providers as much as we can, and we do our best to ship out all orders ASAP.
More frequent updates
You have requested that we post updates more frequently. We understand that and you deserve it. Without you, this project probably would not have been possible at all. We want to be transparent and tell you about the development so moving forward we will continue to do that but more frequently, we owe that to you! The next update will be in about 2-3 weeks (after we received the first feedback from our manufacturer).

The app development
We are continuing the development of the BRU app. With the app you will be able to set brewing timer, save brew settings and use other features such as the multiple cups and multi/infusion settings or our fantastic cold tea function. We are now putting together the software requirements specification for the development and if you are interested in being a beta-tester, just drop us an email on [email protected]. At first, we will use Bluetooth to connect the app with the machine. But the machine will already have the hardware needed to be Wi-Fi connected. Later on, we will update the software and make it possible to connect via Wi-Fi as well. The reason for doing it this way is that it would take more time to have it Wi-Fi connected from day one. The firmware of the machine can be updated via Bluetooth. And, you will be able to completely switch off the Bluetooth & Wi-Fi module of the machine if you don’t need it.
Web shop
Our web shop is almost done, and we plan to go live in about Mid.-October. Some comments on what you will be able to find in our web shop:
Machine – For now we will only sell our machines through the crowdfunding platforms. After we have shipped all machines to our backers, we will start sales of the machine through our own platform.
Teas – We are working with tea experts to put together an overview of our teas as well as more detailed descriptions. Eventually, we are also aiming at offering a subscription if you want to have tea delivered to you automatically.
Accessories – You will be able to order accessories and spare parts to your machine if needed.

TTT_MuunBall is a reskin of the TTT_Boomerang. It has clipping so you can simply walk up blocks instead of needing to jump crouch! I would also Highly recommend disabling your double jump and Barnacle addons. Several Traitor Traps rely on falling and thus a double jump would be problematic. The Barnacle would also be game breaking as there are a several areas with one or two block wide entire ways that would make the barnacle very OP.

Anyway here's some of the things in the Version 3.0 update!
  • Improved Edgars AI to be more cinematic and made his growl quieter as to no longer be heard across the map. Ryan if your ever in the mood to read 3 lines of text for the Edgar trap that would make my year. Pm me or something and ill send you the lines.
  • To better reflect the evil that is Edgar his hole now uses volumetric lighting and more sounds for dramatic effect. I also added blood and viscera!
  • Bonus super secret server command for Ryan's eyes only? Its a Trator trap that can only be activated with a console command so that only the Mad King can use it. Ryan I messaged you on discord through your Madhouse Misfits Channel. The command will be keep it a secret until after they release a video ill just put it in the workshop description.
  • Improved a few clipping spots. Better clipping means you can walk up blocks instead of doing that awkward jump crouch that most minecraft maps require!
  • Added a 3d skybox which extends the map far enough to see EE-I-EE-I-WHOA! and Dart Toss.
  • Added a secondary entrance to Geoffs house to improve map flow, as well as widening the ladders in Michael and Gavins houses, and the areas leading into and out of the caves. I also made several changes to improve maneuverability around the ponds bridge as well, as a few other locations.
  • The Kung Fu can be shot off Ryans Kung Fu House. When done the Kung Fu House sign just reads House.
  • Added Diamond blocks underneath lava because Millie is allways right! Suck it Geoff!
  • Changed ladder types on jacks sides to decrease your chances of accidentally falling off the ladders. Pressing e on the ladder or near dismount points will now safely put you on or take you off the ladder. Alternatively walk towards the ladder while looking at it to automatically be attached to the ladder. They should now be Lindsay ProofTM. Shoutout to the play testers for throwing themselves off ladders for science!
  • Added water, lava, Fire, furnace, and egg sound effects to make the world feel more lively.
  • Added significantly more small ammo packs and weapon spawn locations. Increased Risk Reward placement including near cactus, and more near traps.
  • You can now dispose of dead bodies in the fire at Jeremys house. Doing so will temporary brighten the fire and play the fire sound twice. Keep an eye and an ear out for it!
  • Improved lighting across the map. Resulting in increased visibility and moodier lighting in caves etc.
  • Added more foliage across the map.
  • Increased blast radius of TNT cart trap \30% and is now lethal within a 4 block vicinity. You can now be run over by the cart if you get in its way. The cart will no longer be blocked by dropped weapons or other physics objects.)
  • Edgar III now lays eggs. On a personal level I have become aware of all iterations of Edgar!

PS.Hope you guys have fun playing It if you do! On a side note If anyone from AH is reading this please consider officially releasing the minecraft map files for Achievement City and Achieveland. Its been fantastic to explore an old version of Achievement City that somehow got onto the internet but I'm sure a lot of people would love to explore the most recent versions of both of those maps. If future content/unseen areas are preventing you from releasing them you can use MC edit or something similar to remove those chuncks for a public release version. I would be happy to do it for you if you or help out in any way I can. Honestly its super easy though.
PPS. Hey If anyone has experience with packing a specularity map in with the normal map of a texture for use in source and would like to help me do just that send me a message. I made have a specularity texture but had to disable it as I was unable to get it working properly with the MuunBall. Any help with that would be very much appreciated!

Only iV 50/60/80/80X will be available for sale from the end of September
RS and all 4-wheel versions will come for sale later (end 2020)
Delivery for 4-wheel drives will not be available before June 2020.
Coupe sales will start from summer 2021. Most likely deliveries will start from end 2021.
Charging app will be the same as the one using on the hybrid models so expected to be ready on release of the cars.
Prices in Norway (remember Norway has 0% tax on EVs):

I think the pricing is quite good but the extras can stack up to 11.500 Euro for full pack with hook, suite interior, large screen, augmented reality HUD and all the bells and whistles bringing the iV80X near to 60.000 .... Not bad price but if you factor other countries that have to pay tax on EVs the price might be closer to 70-75k... And that is for 2WD only... we might see numbers up to 80k for a full pack RS for example in Europe. But this is just a speculation as i do not have the price for the 4WD or RS yet... remains to be seen.
My personal opinions:
Interior has great design and very high quality comparing to the competition (i saw the suite interior)
A lot of space inside even though the car is not as big as the Kodiaq externally.
Many practical and functional solutions. I loved the sleeping headrests in the back. Cool idea.
Flat floor in the back allows for easily transporting 5 people on long journeys.
Personally i will wait for the RS and later change it for the Coupe when it comes. Unless they arrive at the same time, then Coupe it is for me.
I think its a real shame they did not have the yellow body colour the prototype had. But the selection is not just grey. Many fun colours there also.
The augmented reality is a really cool feature. The infotainment runs Android Auto and Apple Car Play. I will probably be using it with this box to make it wireless since none of the two offer wireless function outside of US (and it is quite annoying to have to connect my phone with a cable in 2020...) Unless Android 11.0 is truly wireless with Auto so i will not need the box... we will see i guess.
I am not very excited about the huge grille. I don't think the light in the grille made it less visible but i can live with it. I also hope they allow for a non - chrome version. It makes the grille less dominant. (The dealer said there will be a blacked version with all letters black also)

Covid gaming is fun and theraputic, with all this chaos in the world, make sure you are using your magic peeps as a stress reliever!
I was helping a buddy move some playground equipment. He and another friend also wanted to do some trading. Due to covid we were outside and it began to rain. Not super expensive cards but cardboard and rain is a bad mixture. We proceeded to move under my parents covered patio and they did trading while we just chatted and looked at cards. It was so much fun.
I realized I needed more bro time. They had a standing virtual edh group. I am a limited player but went ahead and proxied up a combo deck revolving around persist creatures never getting -1/-1 counters due to numerous cards and my general was Nethroi, Apex of Death. Had some of the cards but since I am not interested in gathering more cardboard I went to MTG Press and MTG Deck Tester and printed the cards. EDHREC and Archidekt were very helpful too.
This is the expensive version
The play group didn’t like my proxies. I had a substantial number of the cards in my trade binder but didn’t want to play with my expeditions and dual lands and put wear on them. They are just the remainder of my collection for investment. That didn’t go over well since I didn’t recognize my privilege of owning thousands of dollars worth of cards. My opponents had tons of really expensive cards but since I was using proxies there was some frustration. We all still had fun.
One of the recommendations was to build a budget deck to avoid the issue of wearing expensive cards. Now I love budget! It is way more interesting to limit yourself to a cost and have everyone else do the same. Makes it fair to everyone and the decks and card interactions are still fun. And the main goal is to hang virtually with the boys.
This is the budget version.
We were using Discord and there were really nice features but Spelltable just upgraded our experience. It’s an amazing program that has a lot of intuitive tools and features. Highly recommend, and it’s free!
Now I am worried my friends are going to be upset with my new budget deck that has a cool combo in it that I have never heard of before. In this day and age, I always feel like I’m being told something new rather than discovering something new about the game I have played for almost two decades.
The combo revolves around Realm Razor which was one of the cards I always thought had a really powerful ability but never really liked how it played due to its high cost and fragile body. Also even if you got it out then you didn’t have any lands and a 4/2 for your troubles. It was great if you were ahead but if you were even or behind it was't great. In researching my combo I heard of cool combo with Amulet of Vigor which certainly could generate a lot of mana.

I have seen it played with a high level of powerful come into play abilities in standard but now I was fooling around with Realm Razor in EDH. I realized that if you have Yorion along with another blink effect you could juggle some cards up in exile. So the stage is having yorion on the battlefield with a card such as Felidar Guardian coming back at the beginning of the next end step.

Cast Realm Razor and he removes all lands. Now when Felidar Guardian comes back at the beginning of your end step, you blink Yorion and then use Yorion's ability again to exile Felidar Guardian. Now the baller thing is when the Felidar Guardian effect comes back to blink Yorion at the beginning of the end step on the turn before your turn you can also select Realm Razor with Yorion and get to have all the lands come into play tapped. Then you move to your turn with Realm Razor and the Felidar Guardian, still exiled until the begining of your end step. You get to use your lands as they will untap at the beginning of your, turn but your opponents lands will still be tapped. Then Realm Razor comes back and exiles all the lands again. It even catches new lands that your opponents play after Realm Razors initial removal. Rinse and repeat and win with access to all your lands while your opponents get maybe one land and mana rocks. Dick move? Yes, but it’s a three card combo that’s relatively easy to break in a 100 card deck. I’m sure someone could build a modern deck with Yorion as a companion but not my forte.
This is my list for the Golos budget EDH that is where the combo lies!

I have very little motivation to progress in any game now because I know that I'll be quitting when it launches. I was one of the skeptics. My opinion of New World before the preview was that it looked like a slower version of ESO. Man I was so wrong...

To be honest I didn't even know the "preview" was a thing until my friend said that he was trying it out, so I decided to jump in with him. I was instantly hooked on the gathering, and after looking into the crafting, I couldn't put the game down. The combat was a hard sell for me and friends because we come from Black Desert, a game where we all feel superior and elitist to all other games, but we all hate that we love BDO.

I've been playing MMOs for over 18 years now and would consider myself very hardcore and competitive. The five MMO's that I've put extensive time and progression into are Final Fantasy XI, World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls Online, Archeage and Black Desert. Each of those games has something unique that kept me hooked for a long period of time, and I'll try to touch on those as I go through them.
It all started with Final Fantasy 11 on my playstation. Final Fantasy did a great job of letting the player experience every "job" on one character. There was also a system of rare monsters that would spawn once every 12 hours or more that you had to camp and try to claim for rare gear; looking back this was very tedious but extremely exciting when they did spawn. It also had a very interesting group grind experience, where players could chain their ultimates together to create huge burst and efficiency.
I then went on to play World of Warcraft because a "friend" stole my FFXI account then disappeared :( I played WoW for about 6 years, almost exclusively doing pvp. WoW was great because you could pvp to get pvp gear, and you weren't forced to pve if you didn't want to. The rated arena system was by far the best of any game I've played since. It felt rewarding every single week. When I would get bored of arenas, I would level alternate characters and gear them up with honor gear in battlegrounds. I left World of Warcraft towards the end of the Mists of Pandaria expansion when Elder Scrolls online made their release. ESO had THE BEST quest experience out of all of the other MMOs I've played, simply because every line of dialogue was voice acted. It also had the best castle siege mechanics. Every wall of the castle could be destroyed by the attacker, and repaired by the defender. It also had 3 capture points around the caste~ lumberyard, mine and farm ~ controlling each one would weaken the castle in some way making it easier to take.
When Archeage released, my ESO guild gave it a try and I tagged along. Archeage had amazing ocean and boat mechanics. I've never had more fun fishing in any game. It also had the very unique feature of farming in any area of the game. Players could own their own farm where they could plant a limited amount of things based on its size, and that private farm was protected from other players. You could also plant things anywhere in the world with no limit, but these could be taken by any player who came across it. This created an incredible system where single players or guilds would venture to the most remote places in the game to try and hide their giant "secret farm" to harvest it later for big money. If found by other players, it would create a huge war in the middle of nowhere. I spent hours and hours searching for secret farms, and setting timers for when they would "mature" to try and come back with a bunch of friends and make easy money.
The last MMO I've played, unfortunately, is Black Desert Online. I say unfortunately because the company that runs this game is awful. They bleed you dry with predatory cash grab mechanics and mandatory "convenience". The only reason I still play this game is because it has the best combat of any MMO I've ever played, almost to the point where I find it hard to enjoy other games. The combat is fluid, responsive, and satisfying. The animations look great, and the endless progression can keep you hooked for years. Just about every player still playing BDO HATES that they love it, and we are anxiously waiting for something better to come along.
Over the past 20 years I've dedicated a lot of my time to MMOs and it is my passion. I've also spent a lot of time trying to give the best feedback possible to the games that I play in the forums and through tickets. I would love to be an Alpha tester for New World, because I feel like my input could be very valuable, and I want this game to succeed. I want it to succeed not for me, (I'm already sold and will play it for sure) but for the many friends I've made throughout my gaming career. I would love for every one of them to play this game with me.


Before I go into the things I feel need work, here are the good things about New World.

THE GREAT THINGS

Sound -

MY GOD the sound effects! Whoever is in charge of sound design for this game deserves more money. I've never been more immersed into a game because of the sound. It's very hard to explain but a joy to experience. From hearing players fighting nearby, to hearing a breach being destroyed. It's simply amazing.

Graphics -

I came into game not expecting much in the way of graphics, and I was pleasantly surprised. The world is beautiful and full of life. You would think that a world that looks like this would come at a huge expense of frame loss, but I was amazed by how smooth it was as well. Even during the wars my computer didn't drop below 60 fps. The optimization was fantastic for a game that is still in development.

Animations -

The mobs and enemies in New World, while limited, have fantastic attack and movement animations. From a wolf that dodges around you and jumps at you, to skeletons that crawl on the ground. Not enough is said about how well the mobs are designed. I cant wait until this game implements a huge world boss or two that stomps around. It will truly be epic.

Gathering -

I didn't expect to find myself gathering for as long as I did in a week long preview. The progression and style of New Worlds gathering system is fun, engaging and rewarding. I spent many hours trying to find rare resources and searching for things I haven't found yet. (also I think the "mangy hide" trait items were bugged, I didn't find a single one)

Crafting -

Simple yet intoxicating. The skill plus RNG combo of endgame crafting is the #1 thing I look forward to in this game. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not let crafting become irrelevant. So many times games allow raid or PVE gear to be far superior to crafted gear, and then there is no reason for it to exist.

Combat -

It was hard to list this as one of the "good things" because it needs a lot of work, but the style of New Worlds combat is very ambitious for an MMO and I look forward to how it is developed. There is a good emphasis on dodging and reacting to certain situations, and I hope that the devs can build upon this to make every weapon and armor set viable in some way.


Here are the things that I feel need work.

NEEDS WORK

Deconstruction -

This is a great idea, but has some fundamental flaws. I've seen a lot of streamers and friends have trouble keeping their armor repaired, and this is due in part to players fighting each other in pvp. When you die to another player, you shouldn't take durability loss on your armor, because that essentially puts a cap on the amount of fun you can have pvping.
I also found that a lot of the top end guilds had very little use for endgame refining stations because they would funnel all of their decon material to one crafter, and that is all the materials they needed to level him up. This created a big gap of progression between the solo player, and the top guild, no matter the effort. The guilds in charge were making tier 5 workshops and forges to craft their gear, while others couldn't refine the materials to make tier 4 gear because the refining stations stayed at tier 2.
A simple fix to this would be to change the material you get from deconstructing; change it from refined to unrefined. Instead of an item giving you Ingots, it should give you ore. This would not only lessen the supply, but also give incentive for guilds to upgrade refining stations. It also places more value on players who gather.

Combat -

This needs work. More weapons, more abilities. Shared cooldowns on abilities is a good thing, having spammable skills on each weapon would get boring fast, although it would be great to get 4-5 abilities to choose from rather than just 3. We need to see a lot more depth and choice within each weapon bracket. Some of the best ideas I've seen suggest that shield, duel wield and two-hander should have their own skill tree and bonuses, and I couldn't agree more. The sword and shield has the best combat of all of the weapons so far, and you should try to build upon that. Other weapons like hatchet are far too one-dimensional.

Ranged Vs Melee -

I LOVE that you have to aim in this game. It allows for the players skill to shine. This has a double edge sword to it though. It is VERY hard to hit a moving target, and when you do, it doesn't make much of an impact, especially since most players just run away and heal up once they are low on health. This will be one of the hardest things to balance, and it's hard to have an opinion on it because I'm probably just trash at archer lol.

Elemental damage -

The bonus damage of fire or lightning or void, etc should receive the 1.5x multiplier when getting a headshot. As an archer, this bonus damage is static, and does not change at all if you get a headshot, making elemental damage detrimental. This problem is quickly compounded when you consider abilities like spreadshot that can shoot 5 arrows at once. Ex: The first clip I'm using a bow with 190 top end damage with 30% void. The second clip I'm using a bow with 183 damage without elemental damage, yet I do 165 MORE damage per headshot.

jiiib3 made a good point in the comments that the elemental damage is a means to counter heavy armor users, so I think the best compromise is to keep it as-is, but allow for the elemental damage to crit as well when getting a headshot.

Casting AOE Abilities -

Aoe abilities are great but there are some flaws that should be worked out. I'm not sure if it's intended or not, but you can't cast aoes while moving. It wouldn't be too strong for the instant AOEs to be castable while moving, while some of the long cast ones (like the rain of fire) should require you to stand still. Another problem is the ground targeting aspect and how there is no option for quick casting. A quick cast option would allow the aoe to instantly cast where the player was aiming, instead of pressing the ability keybind, aiming the circle, then left clicking to cast it, which takes much more time. There are a lot of times where the circle reticle would disappear or bug out where you were aiming, so the spell wouldn't go off right away as well.

Questing -

I almost didn't list this one because I know that it was a new addition to New World. There wasn't any variety with questing (most quests have you kill: X and loot:Y) and they felt boring and repetitive fairly fast.

Pvp Flagging Incentives -

I think the flagging system in New World is great, but I think the incentives for doing so should be ramped up. Not only should you get an experience boost, but you should also get some kind of gathering and drop boost as well. Reward the Risk!

Tooltips -

This is an easy one to fix. Here is a small list of things off the top of my head that would be very helpful if added.
Refining/furnishing should show exp gained.
Weight Value listed to Chest furniture.
Settlements should show the current tiers of crafting stations it has through the world map.

Small Suggestions -

Arrows that hit the target should be then dropped by the mob in a bag to recover. 50v50 Siege needs a scoreboard.

Endgame Content -

This almost doesn't need to be listed, as I'm sure it will be the focus of the developers once the game is live and they look to the future. Instanced raids, open world raids, battlegrounds, duels, arenas, siege, world bosses, rare monsters, farming, naval combat and Endless progression are just a few of the avenues where a game can flourish for long-term consumption.

In closing, I had a blast playing the New World Preview and will try to get into the Alpha, as I will do everything in my power to help this game be successful.

A comprehensive visual diagram of all the new achievements currently planned to come to Main Street.

For those of you unfamiliar with or new to the game, Main Street is a passion project created by me and u/RiverForgeGames. It is currently in very early development and will combine a ton of game elements that we love (business management, tycoon style gameplay, gathering, fishing, treasure hunting, RPG elements like dungeoneering, player housing, pets, and - most of all - a friendly and welcoming community).

It's totally free to play for everyone and requires no download (it is playable in a web browser) but if you enjoy the game and would like to support us, we will be adding a monthly premium subscription based off our current Patreon tiers where we will add exciting rewards and cosmetics.

Today's alpha test is almost ready and with it are some exciting new changes.

Leading up to this alpha test, one of the most received pieces of feedback we've gotten from Main Street's current alpha testers is that the gameplay feels too fast-paced.

A diligent or strategic player can progress rapidly during just one play session in the current game. We've discussed slowing progress down for a long time and adding objectives to make progress feel more earned and rewarding, but this alpha test we're bringing that idea to life.

Now when you open a new shop, you will be able to pick the theme of your store (Bakery, Pet Store, Wedding Boutique, Taco Shop, or Cafe) and you'll be given the opportunity to choose a specialization for that shop.

There are three specializations that we've introduced and each will determine your primary goals, focus, and playstyle: Popular, Profitable, and Bustling.

These will largely impact your ability to purchase larger shop buildings, so it is important to choose a specialty you feel fits your playstyle best. Here's a brief explanation of the core focuses of each:

Popular - It's not enough for your store to be just another shop on Main Street. You want everyone to know your business as the most well-liked, sought-after, and admired store around. Your goal is to catch the eye of everyone on Main Street and be more well known than your competitors.

Profitable - You're a ruthless business owner with one goal on your mind: Bringing in lumps of cash. You want to live lavishly on piles of your own money and be known as the wealthiest entrepreneur around. Why run a shop if you're not raking in the dough, anyway? You're all about the strategy of making as much cash as you possibly can.

Bustling - Chasing after popularity and money never really appealed to you as much as it did to other business owners. You're most interested in keeping your shop busy. You want to run a store that's full of activity, and your focus will be making sure your business always stays energetic and lively.

Although your specialty impacts the expansion of your shop, you will still need to complete goals across all specialties (and some objectives that are not related to specialties) in order to unlock certain things. Here are some of the core examples:

Popularity - Unlocks new types of store decorations & Wedding Boutique Theme
Bustling - Unlocks the ability to hire multiple employees & Taco Shop Theme
Profit - Raises the maximum wage you are allowed to pay employees

New Store - Building more shop shelves unlocks additional decore objects
Selling Stock - Selling items of each stock type will unlock new stock types and shelf upgrades
Receivable Wage - Raise your own wage cap by stocking items for other businesses or earning a certain amount of money working for other stores

We hope these new changes will add more longevity, meaningfulness, and a bigger sense of accomplishment and overarching progress to Main Street.

2 years ago my max streak was 60 days--a constant fluctuation of streaks, falling, streaks, falling
Last year I had a streak of 260 days, and then fell off.
This year I streaked for 4.5 months, fell for 1 month, and have been on it again for the last 3.5 months.

Since discovering SR I have:

This year, I took a vow of sobriety (no smoking of any kind, no alcohol, not even caffeine!) and I've been supremely consistent with my daily habits (something I've sought to do for 4 years) which means every day this year I have:

SR is only a piece of the puzzle.

On this journey, I am recognizing the difference between manifestation by artifice and by expansion. What I mean to say is, it doesn't feel like creating these things in my life is a result of hard volition anymore--but rather life is materializing as consequent ripples from a natural expansion of me taking actions that feel good. I intuit that when you are balanced in yourself, your dimensions--and by extension, your reality--will reflect to manifest this. You will continue to make micro decisions in your life that will guide you toward high-fidelity timelines that create more joy, more excitement, and more fulfillment in your life.
To you, my brothers who are on the path, and to you my brothers who are unsure, let me assure you that this journey is worth it. It just takes time. It doesn't matter how many times you fall from a streak--because as long as you keep coming back, guess what your "bounce-back" streak becomes? Unbroken. 100%. This is the only streak the truly matters.
I'm not going to attribute everything in my life to a single practice like SR, but with absolute certainty, I know it makes up part of the foundation of where I stand today, and I could not have built my life the way I've built it now without it.
I've got a long way to go--but every day, by 1%, I am working toward a bright future. "Can you improve by 1% today?" That's all I asked of myself 3 years ago. "Just get a tiny bit, 1% better today." If you can make that commitment today, in 100 days, you will literally be 100% better. In a year? ~400%. In 3 years? ~1000%. This is how I made my EP. Over the last 2 years, every day, I would watch a single YT video on music, or watch 10 minutes of a video lesson from a course I bought, read a few pages of theory, etc. Stupid easy. Super small. But--Every. Day. 2 years later--boom, things began to click, and the knowledge really added up.

Be patient. Be patient. Be. Patient. :)
Retain, balance, find your center. Trust that this greatness you seek is already inside you. Look within, cultivate what feels aligning, and you will bloom with the design that was always meant for you.
