PlayStation Studios: List of Confirmed, Leaked, Rumored Games

2020.08.18 14:35 Razzy_R_Dazzy PlayStation Studios: List of Confirmed, Leaked, Rumored Games

Due to current lack of notable news regarding the PlayStation 5 and how long it passed since a detailed overview on SIE's current and future line of games here, I decided to lump all them together and gather all notable information, confirmations, reports and rumors we've been hearing over the past 2-3 years.
There are so many repetitive question posts, console warring and the like. So consider this just a nice little ('little') post to go through until we'll have new stuff and interesting news in the coming weeks. I hope this will be informative and organized enough.
In case you have more sources, links, credible tweets and the like, don't hesitate to share them so they can be added to this list.

SIE Worldwide Studios - Projects

Naughty Dog
After over three years of anticipation, fears, doubts, delays and controversies, Naughty Dog finally released The Last of Us Part II back in June to critical acclaim and high sales.

Insomniac Games
At the time of this post's writing, Insomniac Games is the most recent member of the SIE Worldwide Studios, having been acquired in 2019 after decades of close relationship with Sony and the PlayStation. Having shipped 2018's Spider-Man to critical acclaim and extremely strong sales, Insomniac Games was one of the first studios to have its rumored PS5 projects shown in June's Future of Gaming event.

Guerrilla Games
Guerrilla Games experienced some sort of new breakthrough with the PS4 generation, releasing the beloved Horizon Zero Dawn to great success and creating the acclaimed Decima game engine which was used for Until Dawn (2015) and Death Stranding (2019) in addition to Horizon and 2013's Killzone Shadow Fall.

Sucker Punch Productions
Sucker Punch Productions just shipped its latest game Ghost of Tsushima so it seems like their next project is still years away. In comparison to some of Sony's other studios, it's a somewhat smaller team, with less than 200 employees. Either way, Ghost of Tsushima's ridiculously high sales and positive reception prove they're not going anywhere.

Polyphony Digital
Sony's resident racing game studio, Polyphony Digital is dedicated to the Gran Turismo series. And this isn't going to change any time soon in my opinion. The studio's latest release was 2017's Gran Turismo, which despite being the lowest-rated title in the main franchise, was still a major commercial success and gradually received warmer reception as Polyphony added new content.

PixelOpus
This is gonna be a brief one. PixelOpus is Sony's smallest internal studio, and to this date only shipped two games since its inception in 2014. The latest one was 2019's Concrete Genie, which got favorable reviews even if it wasn't a massive sales story. Whatever the studio is working on nowadays remains a mystery, as they finished support for their latest title.

Media Molecule
Media Molecule is Sony's most unique studio in terms of its projects, aiming to push player creativity and interactions more than any other developer under its umbrella. After nearly a decade, the team finally released its latest project Dreams in February 2020 as yet another critically acclaimed platform for creators and designers.

SIE Japan Studio
SIE Japan Studio is Sony's biggest studio and its flagship development place. It is a wild card responsible for multiple games of different genres, styles and scope, and tends to collaborate with other developers just as much as it develops its own in-house productions. Some of its most notable games during the PS4 generation include Gravity Rush 2, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission and the Knack duology, as well as co-productions on Bloodborne, The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Colossus remake.

SIE Bend Studio
After over a decade of working on handheld titles, Bend Studio finally returned to home console AAA development with 2019's Days Gone. It didn't get the rave reviews some other big Sony games got, but players absolutely loved it and the game proved to be a surprise hit with pretty solid sales for a new IP by a somewhat obscure team.

SIE Santa Monica
Santa Monica Studio stands as one of Sony's most acclaimed teams, and is responsible for God of War. After a very uncertain time between 2011 and 2016, including the disappointing results of 2013's God of War: Ascension, lay-offs and the cancellation of an ambitious sci-fi IP, the studio found its footing again with 2018's reimagined God of War, ushering a new dawn on the once-troubled studio.

SIE London Studio
SIE London primarily focuses on experiences revolving around the PlayStation brand's different applications and accessories. However, after years of being in the background, the studio got the spotlight upon delivering Blood & Truth, a VR shooter that shocked everyone thanks to its quality and production values.

SIE San Diego Studio
Like Polyphony Digital, San Diego is best known for doing one flagship series, MLB: The Show, though unlike the former San Diego Studio has ventured into other IPs in a more frequent rate.
Sony's Secret Studio in San Diego
More or less an open secret by now, Sony founded a new development studio in San Diego circa 2018, within the Visual Art Studio Group of Sony. And for the past two years, it's been recruiting talent from various places, including ex-Naughty Dog environment artist Zack Oliver and Red Dead Redemption 2 senior animator James Martinchek, with senior game designer Quentin Cobb apparently leading the team.

External Developers - Confirmed, Announced Games

With the exception of Wild, the following titles were announced during Sony's Future of Gaming event.

External Developers - Confirmed, Unannounced Games

External Developers - Rumored Games & Other News

------

Beyond what's written here, there have been many, many rumors, speculations and other stuff about other Sony-related projects:
Rumors about Sony acquiring the likes of Kojima Productions or Remedy Entertainment (Max Payne, Alan Wake, Control). Rumors about an unannounced multiplayer-focused game by Remedy for the PlayStation 5. Rumors about Bloodborne and Dreams coming to PC alongside God of War and the Uncharted PS3 trilogy. Rumors about Horizon Forbidden West including a co-op mode. A fake 'leak' about Spider-Man 2's plot and gameplay details. Rumors about Kojima making up with Konami to revive Silent Hills. Rumors about Sony acquiring Konami's top three IPs. Etc, etc.
I did like the rumor about Castlevania getting a Bloodborne-esque revival.
That's it for now. If you guys have any other substantial or reliable information to add to the post; some worthwhile rumors or leaks, don't hesitate to share so I can update, correct and improve this list.

2020.08.16 19:29 eve_salmon A Cinematic Guide to The Weeknd: Pt 1. Trilogy and Kiss Land

A Cinematic Guide to The Weeknd: Pt 1. Trilogy and Kiss Land
Not since Jackson has there been a pop star who was so influenced by film. Without cinema, there is no The Weeknd. I decided to write this after reading his CR interview where he namedrops Der Fan, a pretty serious cinephile cut and one of my favorite films ever. In this series of posts I will attempt to chronicle the major cinematic influences on each album. While I’ve seen some other articles cover similar ground, I haven't really seen it covered in the depth it deserves. However, thats not to say this will be any more complete. I honestly didn’t even go that deep. This is by no means exhaustive, I’m not The Weeknd, I haven’t seen every movie in the world, and even amongst movies I’ve seen, my recall is different from others. Much of this comes from some light research, a familiarity with his catalog, but mostly from my own film watching. At the end of the day, like everyone else, I don’t really know anything.
All that being said, I hope you all enjoy this. I will be posting two more parts covering Beauty Behind The Madness + Starboy, and My Dear Melancholy + After Hours.
EDIT: Pt.2 here

Trilogy

Stalker
Visually referenced in the Knowing video, and titularly referenced in the Zone, Andrei Tarkovsky’s Stalker is considered by most to be one of the greatest movies ever made. Stalker follows two philosophers (identified as The Writer and The Professor) as they enlist a guide known only as the Stalker to help them traverse a restricted area called the Zone, which is said to hold a room that grants wishes. It can almost be considered a road movie, with much of the film being the party waxing philosophical as they traverse a hypnotic, Chrenobyl-esque landscape. One of the films main themes is that of desire and wish fulfillment, and the disillusionment that comes with it, a theme that echoes throughout Trilogy. On an aesthetic level, the film, which starts out sepia toned and burst into color when the trio enters the Zone, explores the idea of escapism of the mundane and into cerebral, psychedelic dream worlds, another idea that is present in Trilogy.

David Lynch
On the note of escapism and other worlds, perhaps one of the most foundational influences on Trilogy and The Weeknd overall is the cinema of David Lynch. Lynch’s films are noir leaning phantasmagorical trips full of gangsters, ghosts, and movie stars. The video for the Zone contains a number of possible references to Lynch, such as the eyes appearing over the speeding of the lonely road as a reference to the opening of Lost Highway, and perhaps the road scene in Wild at Heart, and the Thursday Girl in the balloon world also bears some resemblance to The Red Room in Twin Peaks. He’s also name dropped Eraserhead a number of times, but the overall impact of Lynch on his music can’t be counted in just blatant aesthetic references. One film of Lynch’s that somewhat parallels Stalker is Mulholland Drive, a horror noir murder mystery (many call the film unclassifiable). Like Stalker, Mulholland Drive sees a party of foils (in this case, a fresh ingenue and a jaded actress) investigate a case of mistaken identity and get drawn into the dark dream world of Hollywood (more on this later). While Mulholland Drive isn’t directly referenced at any point in Trilogy, The Weeknd’s debt to Lynch is more the appropriation of themes, feelings and moods of Lynch’s overall work into the world of The Weekend. But of all the references to his work, it must be noted that Wild at Heart, Lynch’s love on the run movie starring Nicholas Cage, prominently featured Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game, and was largely responsible for it becoming a hit in the early 90s.

Vampires
When describing The Weeknd, many critics evoke towards vampire imagery (one review described him as “Transylvanian”), with good reason. Besides the Nosferatu imagery in the Wicked Games video, he’s also expressed a strong affinity for Gary Oldman’s performance in Bram Stroker’s Dracula. From what is known about his background, living with a group of other young runaways it’s likely films like The Lost Boys and Near Dark (more on this later), which revolve around gangs of young vampires, was an influence on him as well, especially in parallel to darker tracks like Initiation (A Clockwork Orange likely falls in here as well, more on Kubrick below). One of the most interesting ways this is expressed is in XO/The Host, which samples George Frederic Handel’s Sarabande, a metre in dance that was in fact banned in 1583 for “exciting bad emotions.”
https://preview.redd.it/p7w5u1cf9oo51.png?width=696&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d134e1671a52ff92316cd5e58cf64823dc85dd8
Stanley Kubrick
Sarabande was also the recurring theme used in Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon, Kubrick being another formative overall influence like Lynch, as opposed to simply Trilogy. Kubrick’s ideas and imagery are present throughout his career (Visual references to Eyes Wide Shut in the Secrets and Twenty Eight videos, A Clockwork Orange references in Price on My Head, a general appreciation for the Shining etc.). Like Lynch, Kubrick love his psychedelic dream worlds, however, he is less focused on escapism and instead presents our current world as inherently absurd and psychedelic in itself, and people left to their own devices will reflect that experience. For example, like Lynch’s Blue Velvet, Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut posits that a gilded sexual underworld truly holds the keys to society, and that the sheen of civility is but a thin veneer. However, [Spoiler Alert] Blue Velvet ends with the police getting Dennis Hopper’s iconic villain Frank and the couple that caught him living happily ever after. However Eyes Wide Shut ends with Tom Cruise’s Bill being bullied out of his investigation into the murder of a hooker by a mysterious masked cabal. When he spills out to his wife, she says that all that they do about it is go home and fuck. So while Lynch isn’t exactly an optimist, his works still exist within his own controlled continuum and plane. Kubrick on the other hand, applies his vision to our own world, and presents us with his own theories on our past, present, and history.

Loosies/speculation
While I hesitate to delve too deep into the simple name drops (Nightmare on Elm St on Glass Table Girls, The Birds, etc.) on Loft Music, I believe he namechecks The Third Man, Carol Reeds seminal noir film of mistaken identity. This is a pretty interesting reference, as The Third Man is considered one of the Great Films by many, and is actually what first made me think he was a cinephile all the way back in the day. I don’t even know if he’s actually referencing it but I don’t think it would be out of his wheelhouse. For a 19 year old to be able to not just reference but understand and be able to integrate Stalker as tastefully as he did is already a pretty precocious accomplishment. In the Twenty Eight video, much has been made about the stacked televisions and the interview (Videodrome) and the fake street (Eyes Wide Shut). However the scene where he’s watching the girls dance in the movie theater, and the ghost girl in the hotel room is very similar to John Carpenter’s Cigarette Burns, an old Masters of Horror episode starring Norman Reedus as a theater owner who tries to track down a film that’ll make whoever watches it go insane. He’s spoken before about the Machinist, another film about the divide between dreamworlds and reality, rooted in traumatic experience (it should be noted that the aforementioned Mulholland Drive is rooted in a car crash in which one of the leads experiences amnesia, very similar to the Machinist).

Kiss Land

Blade RunneThe Matrix
One of the cornerstone films of Kiss Land is Blade Runner, with the Kiss Land world being strongly inspired by Blade Runner’s Los Angeles, November 2019, most notably with the metropolitan Asian influence, the neon signs and the futuristic skyscrapers, as well the film’s Vangelis score (which opened the Kiss Land Memento Mori episode). Most blatantly, there’s Tears in the Rain, a reference to Rutger Hauer’s classic ending monologue which was actually improvised. The parallels to Kiss Land and Blade Runner run deep on a conceptual level. Many go in to Blade Runner expecting a sort of sci-fi adventure film (what Blade Runner 2049 turned out to be), when it is in fact a futuristic neo-noir mood piece. Like Kiss Land, it isn’t so much about the story, but about the scenes, the textures, the world it built and inhabited. To truly feel the Blade Runner influence, check Not Used To (The Town Demo), which is available on google drive somewhere on this sub. Another important film to is rather obvious visually, The Matrix. The sci-fi adventure classic, beside serving as a strong aesthetic standpoint, particularly influenced Kiss Land’s sonic palette of industrial music, noise, and contemporary rock, from the likes of Linkin Park, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson, not to mention the cave rave from the second movie, had a strong influence on the sound of Kiss Land, most strinkingly the cold, aggressive drums on songs like Adaptation and Love in The Sky.

Only God Forgives/Black Rain/Enter The Void/New Rose Hotel
Blade Runner isn’t the only Ridley Scott film he pulled from (There’s something to be said about Alien’s haunting Jerry Goldsmith score and it’s use of the icky greens and steely blues), as the Kiss Land concept and storyline was also heavily influenced by Scott’s Black Rain. Black Rain stars Michael Douglas and Andy Garcia as two New York City cops who must escort a Yakuza hitman to Tokyo. While not one of Scott’s more famous works, it is a cult classic in certain circles, primarily the vaporware scene, for it’s evocative cinematography, metropolitan portrayal of Tokyo, and Hans Zimmer’s Black Rain Suite. The idea of foreigners lost in the East, a major element in Kiss Land, is also reflected in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives. While Black Rain is a slick, Hollywood production, Only God Forgives is a down and dirty indie. After his huge success with Drive (more on this film later), Winding Refn was interested in doing something less commercial, and put together Only God Forgives in Thailand with a far lower budget than Drive. While Cliff Martinez’s score features the cinematic symphonies so common in the Kiss Land films, one notable motif is his use of huge organs, similar of which can be seen on Kiss Land (the song). But the pinnacle of the foreigner lost abroad set of films is the infamous Enter the Void, Gaspar Noe’s the neon soaked odyssey through Tokyo. Besides the thematic and visual influence, like the Matrix, Enter the Void had a strong influence on the sonic palette, with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter providing sound effects, most famously for the film’s iconic title sequence (More on both Noe and Bangalter later). In addition to Bangalter’s sound collage and ambient noises, Noe also employs a few cinematic Bach pieces to ease the tension. This grit is also explored in Abel Ferrara's New Rose Hotel (more later), another film Japan set cyberpunk tale of foreigners and mischief abroad.

John Carpenter
With the setting and city playing such a large role, a filmmaker who exemplifies this is John Carpenter, who’s best work makes strong use of location as a character. While he frequently diverges, he particularly enjoys sprawling urban metropolises, best seen in films like Escape From New York, Escape from LA (yup), and They Live (more on this film later), all of which he also composed the soundtrack to, most famously Escape from New York’s iconic intro theme, which was also a likely influence on Kiss Land. While there is likely some mood taken from The Fog, another Carpenter film that influenced Kiss Land was The Thing. He has specifically name dropped this in interviews, and while this isn’t as face obvious as the others, it features a massive, iconic Ennio Morricone soundtrack that mirror Kiss Land’s paranoid blockbuster ambitions.
https://preview.redd.it/dee39ediaoo51.png?width=996&format=png&auto=webp&s=f954dd43f491f4071af33bfc452f23e22d16fa45
Early David Cronenberg
While much has already been made about Kiss Land’s sci-fi influence, David Cronenberg’s horror influence can be felt throughout. He is known as the king of body horror, most impressively seen in films like the Fly, Naked Lunch, and of course, Videodrome , however, most relevant to Kiss Land and possibly The Weeknd overall is his portrayal of sexual deviance. While Ridley Scott and John Carpenter had been anticipating a career in filmmaking for a very long time, Cronenberg’s initial interests were the sciences and academia, particularly botany and lepidopterology (the study of butterflies). As such, his films have a colder, psychological edge but retain an air of elegance and sophistication. As opposed to Lynch’s exploration into the deviance in the underbelly, Cronenberg explores similar deviances amongst the upper class. He enjoys mad scientists and dark lords, his protagonists usually being surgeons, psychologists, ambassadors, etc. This can be seen in Dead Ringers, where Jeremy Iron’s twin surgeons pretend to be one and date the same woman. The film is a deft mix of drama, horror and sci-fi, with the twins surgery “tools” and outfits, as well as an darkly comedic exploration of sexuality. Videodrome, a well known favorite of The Weeknd, also touches on these ideas of sexual deviances, with James Wood’s Max being a purveyor of smut and engaging in all sorts of bloody and bodily sex to the point that it begins to melt his brain. In a sort of meta twist Cronenberg, even seems to parody his own ideas of sexual deviance with the play scene at the beginning of the Brood, which may have been an inspiration on the body show in the Belong to The World video.

Corporate Faculty
On the topic of Videodrome, besides it’s body horror, another interesting aspect of the film is it’s portrayal of corporate faculty. When making Trilogy, The Weeked regularly mentions how much time he had as there were no label obligations. With Kiss Land however, he had set up the XO imprint on Republic Records, and was now answerable to corporate powers. Videodrome’s plot revolves around Max, a tv programmer who acquires a menacing tv show called Videodrome that seems to depict graphic torture and killing. As he continues on, he begins to encounter hallucinations and uncovers a conspiracy that stretches across multiple civic organizations. Smuggled inside a body horror scifi film is a powerful commentary on corporate rationale and reasoning, as well as prescient, forward thinking ideas of mass media and its effect on people. This idea of sinister corporations pops up in a number of films, it can be seen in Blade Runner with the Tyrell corporation, and to an extent the robots of the Matrix harvesting people for energy, however most cutely, the Oxcy Cat logo resembles the logo of Shreck’s the corporation from Batman Returns, another film involving corporate conspiracies and sexual politics. Additionally, there is Abel Ferrara's New Rose Hotel, which I believe to be one of the key Kiss Land films. The film stars Christopher Walken and Willem Dafoe as two corporate raiders attempting to convince a Japanes scientist to transfer companies by getting him involved with an Italian stripper played by Asia Argento daughter of the legendary Dario. New Rose Hotel I believe is the quintessential key to Kiss Land, the unofficial video for Kiss Land is almost something of a stealth remake of the film.

J Horrosci-fi
For a work “set” in Asia, there’s a conspicuous lack of Asian films mentioned here. Not to say Asian works are not referenced, but I do think that the larger influences are films made in Asia by Westerners. The Asian works I believe mostly provide aesthetic, notably the animated films Ghost in a Shell, Casshern, and Akira for their depictions of sci-fi metropolises, and the Grudge for the Belong to the World body show. From a thematic standpoint, there is Audition, the definitive J horror film, which revolves around a woman with a mysterious past and Cronenberg-esque sexual deception and body horror, and of which The Weeknd is a known fan. Slightly more obscure and more speculatory however, is the work of Shinya Tsukamoto. While he is best known for his classic Tetsuo: The Iron Man, a body horror classic, I believe his film A Snake In June may have been a strong influence on Kiss Land. A Snake of June is about a woman having an affair is blackmailed into sexual games over the phone. Shot in a icy blue tinted grayscale, as with many of the Kiss Land works the city plays as much of a part in the film as the characters. Again, this is pure speculation, on one hand I find it hard to believe that this film never came up in his research, but at the same time I myself didn’t discover this film till a little later into my film watching, so I can believe it may have slipped through the cracks.

2020.07.13 18:36 Stasz18 New Info on The Walking Dead Onslaught

Later this year players will be able to jump back in the world of The Walking Dead with The Walking Dead Onslaught. This new VR game drops players right in the middle of the popular TV show and allow them to play as iconic characters including Rick, Daryl, and Carol. Last year Screen Rant was able to test out an early version of the game, and it was a great experience. We recently had the chance to sit down with the developer Survios' project lead Andrew Abedian, and he was able to fill us in on some of the details for The Walking Dead Onslaught.
Survios has a long history with working on VR games. The first game that the company developed was Raw Data, which won several awards and was one of the most popular early VR games. Eventually Survios went on to create both Creed: Rise to Glory and Westworld: Awakening. Both of these titles have performed very well with critics and players alike, and Survios has garnered a lot of praise for their work. A couple of years ago though they were then contacted by AMC to begin working on a The Walking Dead game.
Andrew Abedian tells us that AMC has been very involved and helpful with the process of making The Walkibg Dead Onslaught. Survios has access to many of the show's writers, allowing the developers to create something unique that still fits within the show's storyline. Because of this Survios was able to set the game in between the 9th and 10th seasons of the AMC TV series without worrying about any continuity issues. Several of the actors from the show are involved as well, like Norman Reedus returning as the voice of Daryl Dixon in the game.
One of the most interesting aspects of The Walking Dead Onslaught is that the game will be split into two distinct parts. Players will be able to play as Daryl for the game's campaign. Abedian says that during the course of the campaign Daryl is attempting to help save someone, but he is in direct conflict with Rick who is trying to rebuild society as a whole. Players also have the ability to play as Rick, Carol, and few other characters during the game's scavenger runs. These are missions that players can go on to collect supplies in order to rebuild the city of Alexandria.
Rebuilding Alexandria opens up some avenues for unique gameplay for The Walking Dead Onslaught. As players obtain more resources and supplies they can choose to build and upgrade the buildings of the city. This will alter the way that Alexandria looks, but will also give players access to skills and buffs that can increase their combat abilities. This also means that players must decide who to best use limited resources. The example that Abedian gave is having to decide between a combat buff or a building that makes food for the community.
According to Abedian, combat in The Walking Dead Onslaught allows players to experiment with different kinds of weapons to eliminate walkers in unique ways. Players will have many types of weapons at their disposal, and killing walkers can be brutal. Players will be able to slice off limbs, behead enemies, or even skewer them with a sword and other sharp weapons. Abedian believes that this gives the game a level of realism that intentionally feels at home with the TV show.
The Walking Dead video games haven't had the best track record over the years. The TellTale series did very well, but games based specifically on the TV show have tended to lean towards simple cash grabs on the popular series. Abedian stated that Survios has tried to avoid going for the same lackluster attempts at adapting The Walking Dead. Unlike other studios, Survios has a lot of experience with adapting other media into video game format. Additionally, the team has put more than two years worth of work into making sure the game is solid. With the added benefit of Survios having access to some of the same resources that the TV show does, The Walking Dead Onslaught is shaping up to be something special.
That doesn't mean that there haven't been challenges to go along with creating The Walking Dead Onslaught. COVID-19 threw a large wrench in the studios plans. Like most video game studios, Survios had to move to doing work on the game from home. This was a strain on the team at first, but they were able to adjust quickly and get everything finished on schedule. The Walking Dead Onslaught's release date is not yet set, but the game is expected to release sometime in 2020. There should also be a gameplay trailer that releases at some point during over this summer. There will be more information once this trailer releases, but as of right now The Walking Dead Onslaught sounds like a blast.

2020.05.29 14:23 tonnie_taller Walking Dead Season 10 Finale Is Like Game Of Thrones Says Star

Read more on WordPress https://ift.tt/36GITet
_The Walking Dead_ star Norman Reedus says the season 10 finale of the zombie series is like _Game of Thrones._Season 10 of _The Walking Dead _began last fall and returned in February for its last stretch of episodes. Under normal circumstances, the season finale would have already aired by now. However, the coronavirus pandemic meant post-production on the episode could not be completed, so fans were left one episode shy of a full season back in April. Next week will mark two months since that last episode, “The Tower”, and as of right now, AMC has yet to reveal when the finale will air. Beyond that, it’s unclear when production will begin on the already-ordered season 11.
_The Walking Dead_last left its characters in a rather precarious situation. Newly crowned big bad Beta (Ryan Hurst) leads a horde of walkers to the hospital where most of the characters are holed up, suggesting that a massive battle is on the horizon. Fans are eager to see how this situation will resolve itself, though that’s not the only reason they have to be excited about this final episode. Maggie herself, Lauren Cohan, is set to return for _The Walking Dead_‘s season 10 finale, marking her first appearance since she left the series in season 9.

Since there is no news about when The Walking Dead_season 10 will air its finale, Reedus (who plays fan favorite Daryl Dixon) has opted to hype up the action that it will contain. Confirming fans’ suspicions that Beta’s advance equals war, Reedus told EW, “It’s going to be an epic battle.” To give fans an idea of how epic he’s talking, Reedus added, “_It’s like a full-on_Game of Thrones _super war battle.”
Throughout its eight-season run, _Game of Thrones _built up a reputation for its incredible battle seasons. The most acclaimed of them all came in season 6: The Battle of the Bastards. _Game of Thrones_‘ final season attempted to match the heights of that war with the Battle of Winterfell, but viewers were disappointed with the poor lighting and shockingly low body count. Hopefully, whatever _The Walking Dead _has planned for its season finale is more like the former.
The most frustrating thing now is the uncertainty of exactly when fans can expect the _Walking Dead _season 10 finale. In some instances with other television shows, post-production has been able to continue remotely during the pandemic. However, that does not seem to be the case with The Walking Dead. Therefore, until things clear up enough for everyone to complete the episode, _Walking Dead _fans are left hanging. Hopefully it won’t be too long before they get a reprieve.

2020.04.07 03:31 Rabid_Lemur This game sucks and Kojima should be ashamed.

Imagine this: it's 2014 and PT just dropped. Everybody is hyped and ready to see what Kojima can do with Silent Hill. Months later, you find out that PT gets cancelled. That sucks and everyone is sad. But Kojima says he has something else in store! A couple years later, the reveal trailer for Death Stranding comes out and it looks like it could be a very cool and surreal horror game. Awesome! Kojima's got our back!
But then all goes quiet... A couple more years pass and we finally get a release date out of the blue when most people thought it might've faded into obscurity. But when it came back, so did the hype. The devs were all hush hush about what the actual game entailed. All we knew was 3 things. Norman Reedus, Weird Baby Thing, and magic rain that ages shit.
But when the game finally came out, and all the hype came to a peak, we all finally got a taste of what Death Stranding had in store.
And it was SHIT! The only thing you do in the game is walk for 3 hours, deliver shit, encounter invisible monsters, walk for another 3 hours, watch a cutscene that does nothing with the story, and rinse and repeat. Sure, the game is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, but graphics alone don't make a good game. I don't care if the game makes the Mona Lisa look like a pile of dicks, I will never play a game that isn't fun.
Kojima knows he fucked up, because in an interview (I forget which one) he said that people were "too dense" to understand his "art."
I can't believe how many people still defend this game. It is an embarrassment to gaming as a whole! Think about the greatest games ever made. The games where everybody can agree that it's a masterpiece. What do all those games have in common? Story? No, some don't even have a story. Graphics and sound? Nope, some don't even look or sound good. Gameplay? Fuck yeah! Every one of those games is a blast to play over and over again to the point of insanity! But does Death Stranding have good gameplay? Hell fucking no!
I feel personally betrayed by Kojima. He could have given us a game that at least lived up to the hype. But he couldn't even do that!
Fuck Kojima and fuck anyone who defends this game.

2020.03.14 03:52 RedPyramidScheme SILENT HILLS: Everything we know about Masahiro Ito and Hideo Kojima's rumored game

Updated March 15: Three new points of information (#10, #15, #19)
Updated March 24, 29, and 31: (#18, #21, #35)
Updated April 4-23: (#17 , #25, #36-39, #42)
Updated May 4-29: (#43-48)
I have created this post to compile and summarize everything we know about the rumored Silent Hill title, and give a history of everything that has transpired in the last few years.
  1. Hideo Kojima was first asked by Konami to make a Silent Hill game in 2012. He said on the matter, "I think Silent Hill has a certain atmosphere. I think it has to continue, and I'd love to help it continue, and if I can help by supervising or lending the technology of the Fox Engine, then I'd love to participate in that respect."
  2. In November 2012, Masahiro Ito was asked on Twitter if he would work with Hideo Kojima on a new Silent Hill game. He responded, "Yes. If he were to demand it."
  3. In August 2014, a mysterious game called P.T. dropped on the Playstation 4. It was ostensibly a demo for an indie horror game. However, as you play the game, subtle clues were dropped that it might be related to Silent Hill (including the Grey Child sound effect being used for Lisa, and references to Silent Hill 4's bathroom). By the end, the game was revealed to be a standalone game announcing the next Silent Hill game Silent Hills.
  4. Contrary to popular misconception, P.T. is not a demo/segment of Silent Hills, but just a playable teaser for the game. To date, Kojima hasn't given any indication that Silent Hills was intended to have a first or third person perspective or follow the same plot points as P.T.
  5. Silent Hills would have starred Norman Reedus as the player character, and the game was hinted at being set in the Northwestern United States (outside of the titular Silent Hill, Maine). Guillermo Del Toro (Pans Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, Blade II, Shape of Water, Hellboy, The Strain) would have co-directed the game with Kojima. Junji Ito was on board as a creature designer. Akira Yamoaka was hoping to do the musical score.
  6. Silent Hills was subsequently cancelled and P.T. was erased from existence, prompting record fan outrage. P.T. was one of the most influential horror games of the 2010s and Silent Hills was highly anticipated even outside of the SH fandom. Silent Hills was still in early development when it was cancelled, to the point that Junji Ito hadn't even begun creature work or signed a contract yet. Konami released a statement claiming that they are "committed to new Silent Hill titles."
  7. Let's go back a little bit. Remember Masahiro Ito? Well, he was actually working on a Silent Hill in 2013 (which fits the time frame of when Silent Hills would have begun development). Because of NDAs, he hasn't been able to identify the game or give many plot details.
  8. Ito has been very unhappy with Pyramid Head being used outside of SH2, because he was designed specifically for James Sunderland (sources here). He has spoken out against other characters having a Pyramid Head and believes that Konami would be unwilling to make a new game without some variation of PH, so in his 2013 game, he had a plan...
  9. Here is concept art from the opening scene of the game: https://twitter.com/adsk4/status/842030272937844738 (higher resolution). The baby carriage probably holds significance. Because of Ito's distaste with Pyramid Head rearing his pyramid head in the later games, he planned to kill him off in the opening of the 2013 game. The game would have introduced a new manifestation of the cult's angel Valtiel, who ultimately would have killed PH. This version has crimson red wings and a more angelic appearance. Masahiro Ito's design for the new Valtiel can be seen here: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C5wXIXFVMAAHX_s?format=jpg&name=large
  10. Much like Valtiel, the Pyramid Head that gets killed in the opening scene would have been a complete reinvention of the character.
  11. Back to the post-Silent Hills cancellation. Despite Konami claiming that they were devoted to new Silent Hill titles (and widespread demand for Silent Hills to be revived), Konami shut down most of their console division and began focusing mostly on remasters, sporting games, mobile games, and gambling.
  12. Kojima split from Konami and went on to make Death Stranding with Reedus and Del Toro. It wrapped production and was released in 2019.
  13. In the meantime, Konami resurrected Silent Hill... as a pachislot machine. Because of the cancellation of the highly anticipated Silent Hills, and because of gambling machines and the cutscenes being completely out of sync with what Silent Hill is as a work of fiction, many fans considered this to be a middle finger from Konami.
  14. From the cancellation of Silent Hills, and excluding gambling products, Silent Hill remained silent for the next few years.
  15. In 2016, Masahiro Ito was asked if he would make a new Silent Hill game. His response: "If I am given such a offer, I will accept it."
  16. In May 2017, Masahiro Ito revealed that he had not abandoned his plans to kill Pyramid Head in the opening of a new Silent Hill game, should he make one: https://twitter.com/adsk4/status/867501554554724352
  17. In August 2017, Akira Yamaoka stated that he would love to see a Team Silent SH revival, but added "it's hard to say because everyone has evolved, and maybe the mindset has changed as well. Also the technology and the games industry as a whole has changed. Even if we got back together I'm not even sure we could do something great so it's very hard to say at the moment."
  18. In June 2019, Masahiro Ito stated that he finished a creature design for a title he has been working on that he hopes doesn't get cancelled.
  19. In July 2019, Masahiro Ito stated that he has no interest in doing a remake of one of the older games. However, he said he would be willing to work on a new sequel as long as it adheres to his previous stipulation.
  20. In 2019, Konami renewed their Silent Hill trademark, prompting rumors of a new game: https://gamerant.com/silent-hill-trademark-renewal/
  21. Wrong. Another pachislot machine was released: https://bloody-disgusting.com/video-games/3588785/konami-brings-back-silent-hill-pachinko-machine/
  22. In August 2019, Supermassive Games announced a game called Little Hope that seems remarkably similar to Silent Hill.
  23. But here's where things start to get real. In September 2019, Konami released a statement declaring that high end console games are once again "important to our future."
  24. In November 2019, Hideo Kojima revealed that he is working on an unidentified horror game: https://twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/1197880438603145216
  25. In December 2019, someone asked Masahiro Ito if he was working on a Silent Hill game from Kojima, referencing "two different rumors." He stated that he didn't know anything about it and isn't involved. He then asked if he is working on a new horror game, to which Ito replied "No CoMmEnT" [sic].
  26. In January 2020, Masahiro Ito tweeted "I'm working on a title as a core member. I hope the title won't be cancelled. About that, I can tell you nothing yet. ( ´•ᴗ•) "
  27. Also in January 2020, rumors began circulating that Konami is developing two Silent Hill projects - A soft reboot and an episodic Telltale/Until Dawn-type game. At the same time, Eurogamer reported that relations between Kojima and Konami have greatly improved since their 2014 falling out and Konami released a statement saying "We cannot share anything at this point, but we are listening to customer feedback and considering ways to provide the next title."
  28. Not long after that, a reddit leaker claimed that Konami is working on a full remake of one of the older games and a Shattered Memories-style spin-off, implying a game of telephone between rumors.
  29. Soon after that, Kojima tweeted this cryptic tweet hinting at an announcement the following week, and Masahiro Ito simultaneously twitted "R.I.P. Pyramid Head" teasing Pyramid Head's death. Jeremy Blaustein aka Dragonbaby (the translator of the original Team Silent games) replied "About time..."
  30. Soon after, Kojima Productions tweeted out a member of Konami joining Kojima's staff. This culminated in a LOT of speculation about an upcoming Silent Hill title.
  31. The following week, Kojima instead announced the release date of the PC port of Death Stranding and a Half-Life crossover. However, speculation has not died down for obvious reasons.
  32. Aesthetic Gamer, the original leaker of the "two Silent Hill games" rumor (who has been reliable in the past with Resident Evil leaks) clarified more information. However, he stressed that you should take all of it with a grain of salt. For starters, Kojima is working with Junji Ito on a Death Stranding manga. But more pertinently, Konami was reaching out to developers to produce two Silent Hill titles. One, a soft reboot. Two, an episodic title.
  33. (Cont'd) Apparently, Supermassive Games (Until Dawn) was contacted for the episodic game, but they didn't get the job. He doesn't say whether the episodic game is still happening, but Konami is also shopping around for other SH stuff.
  34. (Cont'd) Sony is also currently mediating between Kojima and Konami, and they are helping to fund the upcoming SH games. He doesn't say much, but apparently the Kojima game is only IN TALKS and not yet in development. However, Masahiro Ito did begin developing a new SH soft reboot in 2019 and it has been an open secret in the video game industry for a while now. Apparently, there's a few different studios involved with the soft reboot and Ito is working with SH1 creator Keiichero Toyama and Akira Yamaoka.
  35. (Cont'd) Konami still owns the rights, by the way. Not Sony.
  36. The horrofan site Rely On Horror also joined in with a new report. However, for reasons outlined here, it's probably fake for reasons outlined here and here (see also this, this, and this). Kojima supposedly working on a Telltale-styled game and Konami (the developer who tried to turn SH3 into a rail shooter and who has never had a problem with shaking up canon) putting Kojima on a spin-off to give him "total creative freedom" are the biggest tip-offs that their report is false. It mostly rehashes other reports anyway, and it contradicts details of Aesthetic Gamer's report (and he has a better track record than they do).
  37. In later March 2020, Konami clarified that the "Silent Hill rumors" are false, but did not specify which specific rumors. They added: "It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported."
  38. In April 2020, Hideo Kojima further mused about making a horror game, stating "P.T. is special. Human fear ultimately stems from the unknown. P.T. was a mysterious game, created by a mysterious studio, with no previous announcement or information, so it used forbidden techniques to increase fear. It was a one-off thing, so we cannot reuse that method again. But I would like to make another horror game someday. Something that uses a revolutionary method to create terror, that doesn’t just make you pee your pants, but crap them. I already have ideas in mind."
  39. In the same interview, Kojima states that he is unlikely to use as many celebrities for future projects because of the burden it puts on developers. Norman Reedus has also confirmed that he is in talks to collaborate with Kojima on future projects.
  40. On April 9, 2020, a leaker on Resetera claimed that the Ito/Toyama project is still happening and will be announced in a few months. The Resetera moderators and staff also claimed to have been given proof that this information is accurate. This rumor and Kojima's recent statement would appear to suggest that Kojima's Silent Hills (which, according to the previous reports from Aesthetic Gamer, was only ever in talks) was the project that Konami debunked.
  41. Popular manga artist Suehiro Maruo posted a screenshot of a Silent Hills logo, prompting more speculation.
  42. In late April 2020, the same leaker from April 9 elaborated. They stated that the new Silent Hill game will be announced soon, sometime between May, early June, and October, and that it has been in development for a while (Source1, Source2, Source3).
  43. This is coming from WeGotThisCovered (which is notoriously unreliable) and not the usual leakers, so take this with a massive grain of salt. But WGTC is claiming that the Kojima game (Silent Hills) went into development and that this information is coming from the leakers behind the RE4 remake report. I personally wouldn't put too much stock into this, but here it is for your own judgment: https://wegotthiscovered.com/gaming/silent-hills-reportedly-development-konami/
  44. On May 21, 2020, the original leaker Aesthetic Gamer posted a summary of everything he knows about the supposed upcoming Silent Hill game, which you can read the full version of here. The short version - he reiterates that the game is directed by K. Toyama, with art by Masahiro Ito, music by Akira Yamaoka, and with several Team Siren/Gravity Rush members attached. He says that he heard that it began development in early 2019, it is not a full remake but rather a soft reboot (a sequel made as a launching point for new fans), and that Kojima is not attached. He also clarifies that Kojima's Silent Hills had nothing to do with the Telltale-style game (contrary to the Rely on Horror report).
  45. On May 26, 2020, a Silent Hill DLC was announced for Dead by Daylight. Cheryl Mason (Heather) is the survivor, Midwich Elementary is the map, and The Executioner (Pyramid Head) is the killer: https://youtu.be/N8VGnRN5-mc
  46. After his initial tease (see #41), Suehiro Maruo posted another cryptic Silent Hill image with the text "We're just getting started... Need someone to punish you for your sins?"
  47. Because the state of Sony's upcoming events are in flux, Aesthetic Gamer is now warning that the game could be announced later than early June. https://mobile.twitter.com/AestheticGamer1/status/1265673667507175426. With that bombshell, I won't be updating again until something concrete happens.
  48. Hideo Kojima has revealed that he just had a game cancelled that he's "pretty pissed about": https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/hideo-kojima-reveals-hes-recently-had-a-major-project-cancelled/
I think I summarized all of the important stuff. If I left anything out, be sure to let me know.

2020.01.06 14:09 emomodechester [SPOILER] [ENDGAME] crazy theory & potential coincidenced

Before I start I want to apologize if any of this comes off as insane generation & childish rambling
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say the fact that we never got Silent Hills is probably the biggest upset in modern gaming history
as a fan of Kojima-san and the games he makes I love to deeply analyze what is given to the player for the sake of symbolism, I can't get enough of it, and with Death Stranding I had a lot to analyze
but in the middle of my second playthrough I began to notice some stuff...and made me think Death Stranding may have more history then we know
I like to think the story we have with Cliff was actually what the story of Silent Hills was going to be
from PT we have a husband who killed his wife (Lisa) who was most likely pregnant with their child (fetus in the sink)
from Death Stranding we have Cliff who is married to Lisa who was pregnant with B.B. (Sam) after an accident (apparently caused by Cliff) Lisa was left in a comatose state and they could not leave B.B. within her womb so the bridge foundation put B.B. into a machine to keep them alive, lastly Cliff has a history of Military Service
both mothers are named Lisa
both children were in danger and not close to the due date
both fathers had violence play a role in their life
the only thing I cannot confirm is if the father is Silent Hills felt remorse like Cliff did in Death Stranding
to add to this (I think) Silent Hills was going to go for more psychological horror like Silent Hill 2, where in SH2 the town is more of a personal hell, and Cliff's beach is like a personal hell
I think, whoever Norman Reedus was in Silent Hills wasn't in his own hell...he returned home to confront the demons his father left him
I'm not saying Death Stranding is Silent Hills, but I like to think Kojima-san did the best he could to give us the story of Silent Hills within Death Stranding
what I said could all just be some extreme coincidence, whether it is or not I'm glad I got to play Death Stranding and wish Kojima Productions more success in the future

2019.12.19 18:37 thethirdeyeraven My celebrity SD

So Norman Reedus and I went to the movies, just friends hanging out. I couldn’t really stay into the movie, we shared a blanket over the reclining leather seats. When it was all over we got up, he stood in front of me and kissed me. It was so passionate. We were dating after that, he would steal kisses while I did the day to day stuff. Pure happiness. Then I woke up :(((( I’m crushed, it felt SO real. Do you have a celebrity you would want to be your SD/SB?

2019.11.07 13:30 risen87 Tomorrow, DS will be in our Hands - Today's Livestream, Hype Links, and Tips & Tricks

Good Morning Lovely People!
This time tomorrow, we'll all be pretty busy, but as we know, this is the hardest day to get through. So close and yet so far! With that in mind, I thought I'd share some fun things to do with your day while you wait. I figure I'm not the only one trying to avoid spoilers but also wanting to feed the hype needs!

Today's Livestream

Geoff Knightley will be doing a Livestream today (Thursday 7th) - interviewing Hideo Kojima, Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Lindsay Wagner, Troy Baker, and Tommie Earl Jenkins.
It starts at 15:00 UTC, 16:00 in Germany/France, 07:00 PT (USA), 10:00 ET (USA). [EDIT: Started!]
Livestream Links - (if there's translation, it might be in the regional links)Playstation General (US, UK) - [Link]Playstation France -[link]Playstation Germany - [link]
(Couldn't find live stream links for Spanish, Japanese, Russian etc, but might be because I can't search in those languages!)

Tips & Tricks for your first Hour(s) of Gameplay

(Feel free to skip this if you don't want to know ANYTHING about how to play the game)
Having spoken to a couple of people who have played, and asked them what they wish they'd done differently, their (spoiler-free) advice would be to approach things with less impatience and more thought than most games. Don't run everywhere, press R1 more often, remember that if you organise your load you'll balance yourself better, take the time to plan a route instead of doing the usual running up a hill, and remember that this game has a long on-ramp, so LET it teach you slowly, because there's a reason. Basically, slow and steady wins the race, and if your back looks like a Jenga tower, don't be surprised if you fall over. Also, there's a little exclamation mark next to whatever the game thinks you're supposed to do next during tutorial section, so if you feel stuck, find that and do what it's next to. Also, if you're at a place where you think "oh, if I get on the boat I can't come back, I should do cleanup" then actually, it might be better to go sailing and come back later.

Death Stranding is not the overly-strange inaccessible walled garden the marketing has made it out to be. It's weird, don't get me wrong! But anyone with a surface-level understanding of surrealism in art should be able to acclimate to what is essentially a playable Hollywood production.
Digitally Downloaded - Matt Sainsbury - 5 / 5 stars
As a “game” Death Stranding doesn’t do much. But as a work of art, Death Stranding is something mesmerising, intelligent, and powerful, and we never see genuine art within the big budget, blockbuster space. That alone makes it a rare treat to play, and I rather like this new-look, independent Kojima.
EGM - Mollie L Patterson - 10 / 10
In the end, Death Stranding's biggest mystery isn't any of the elements we've had teased in three-plus years of trailers—it's what people are going to think of it. Even from a man known for making love-them-or-hate-them projects, this may end up being one of the most divisive games ever created. For me, it was an experience that I can truly say was unlike any other I remember. And, if nothing else, Death Stranding makes me respect Hideo Kojima for convincing Sony to invest millions into a game that's about a man delivering packages to holograms.
Easy Allies - Ben Moore - 8 / 10
Death Stranding is a fearless game that often stumbles, but is still fascinating overall. *Review Copy Provided by PlayStation

Death Stranding is the culmination of years worth of hype, misteries and expectation, in a genre-transcending game. An emotional and provocative interactive experience presented in a way that is only possible in a videogame.

Death Stranding is first of all a game which, tries, experiments, and full of ideas. Playing the role of the lonely Sam Porter Bridges, the player is connected with everyone else thanks to a clever system of collaboration, which works really well thanks to a thoughtful game design. But to enjoy the long run through what seems to be the most beautiful Iceland landscape, you will have to go through a thick, complex and most of all tedious story, which seems to never know when to stop, or being simply limpid.

Hideo Kojima has fully weaponized the walking simulator, writing a love letter to the delivery service workers of our shipping and handling world. Death Stranding is about ending isolation, and does it so gracefully that I can't imagine it being done better than it's done here.
GamingTrend - Codi Spence - 100 / 100
Death Stranding is a story of rebuilding America by connecting people far and wide. Stealth, exploration, combat, and inventory management are all necessary in order to succeed. With a fantastic cast, incredible set pieces, an engaging story, and Kojima's brand of incredibly enjoyable crazy, you won't want to put your controller down.

Death Stranding is an ambitious game, filled with so many different mechanics and ideas that almost always work well together. The story and acting is fantastic, and its visuals are a thing of beauty, not to mention the powerful soundtrack.

An intriguing plot, an interesting universe, an outstanding performance by amazing actors and an incredible soundtrack can't hide the fact that Death Stranding has repetitive missions, unexciting open world with a lot of samey elements and disappointing boss fights. It could've been so much more if some parts of the game didn't feel so rushed, but if you are here for the story — you are in for a ride.

Death Stranding is one the best games to be found in PS4. Kojima-san delivers an open world in which we have to represent a bridge between the narrative of the game and other players in order to keep moving forward as part of a world that needs us. The game introduces characters that keep on evolving until we reach an ending for the ages through a story told like very few would be able to. Death Stranding knows how to toy with our emotions, and it manages to arise anguish, tension, solitude, sorrow, joy and provides a conclusion that completely stuns us. The end is only the beginning.

Death Stranding is an outstanding title that ended up blowing away the expectations I wasn’t even aware of. For an auteur like Hideo Kojima, that sounds like an unequivocal success.
Daily Star - Jordan Oloman - 5 / 5 stars
Death Stranding is the most unique big-budget game I’ve ever played, a socially-minded injection of inventive ideas into a genre that has long survived by being lazy and brutish. This ambitious formula-flipper is brimming with empathy and carefully courts cinematic influences, an ensemble cast and a world of eye-watering scale, delivering a sticky gameplay loop to tie it all together and create a console generation-defining experience.
Destructoid - Chris Carter - 8 / 10

In Death Stranding complex themes of life and death, love and loneliness are mixed with a slow meditative and at the same time intense gameplay, where climbing the mountain slopes surrounded by enemies causes incredible experiences. The story of Sam Porter's journey is the most emotional, incredible and powerful we've seen in the last few years. While Death Stranding will surely be the most divisive game of this generation, there is no arguing that it offers new ideas on pushing the medium forward and shows that games don't always typically have to be "fun". The story is beautifully presented and is surprisingly restrained and focused for a Kojima title. All of the actors put on amazing performances and while its gameplay will be too slow for many, those willing to peel back the layers will discover a thoughtfully designed experience that will leave you ruminating for weeks after finishing.

Not everyone will love Death Stranding and I won’t blame you. The game is not for everyone. Some episodes take over two dozen hours to complete and the rinse and repeat delivering mechanics could be an issue for some. However, it always rewards you in some way or another. Be it with its gorgeous and detailed world that is a joy to explore or the fantastic story that unfolds as you discover everything this ambitious game has to offer. There is simply nothing else like it and to be able to dive into it all is a magnificent experience one which will define this generation of gaming.

Death Stranding is Kojima´s most personal game. A complex and emotional work of art, which is not adequate for everyone because of the slow pace and the unusual gameplay. But once you get it, it´s something you will never forget.

Kojima's new open-world adventure delivers heavily on story, crafting a journey that is impeccably directed, with a story that will stay with you for a while. However, the game leaves a lot to desired when it comes to its gameplay and that's where it falters the most.
IGN Spain - Spanish - 8.7 / 10
Kojima has done it again. Death Stranding presents an exciting story full of plot twists that are truly amazing. The game has one of the most interesting exploration systems we've ever seen and its way of connecting the community is very interesting. It wont leave anybody indiferent.
INDIANTVCZ - Filip Kraucher - Czech - 9 / 10
Death Stranding is technically well crafted game. Hideo Kojima surpassed himself in terms of writing and game loop. The game offers an excellent narrative story that really makes a deep sense. Furthermore, you will get an unprecedented cast, an exceptional soundtrack and above all, the game brings its own vision. Perhaps it does not establish a brand new genre. But it is a great game with style for which gamers love Kojima Productions so much.
JVL - French - 19 / 20
Sublime in form and substance, Death Stranding is one of the greatest games of this generation.
Kotaku - Heather Alexandra - Unscored
It’s hard not to like Sam Bridges, who faces all of Death Stranding’s bizarreness with a welcome everyman’s weariness, encapsulated in in Norman Reedus’ characteristic growl.
LevelUp - Luis Sánchez - Spanish - 8.5 / 10
Despite having a well-designed and quite addictive gameplay loop, a great story with a powerful ending, Death Stranding falls shorts in key areas. With a long and lethargic pacing, players will turn away, and then, it's lack of difficulty will surely seal the deal to leave this adventure for later.
Merlin'in Kazanı - Ersin Kılıç - Turkish - 82 / 100
Death Stranding is a game that focuses on the journey rather than the goal. If you are looking for a different and unique adventure, should try Death Stranding.
Metro GameCentral - David Jenkins - 7 / 10
A work of unbridled ambition and imagination but also a pretentious, contrived, and frequently quite dull gameplay experience – Death Stranding is peak Hideo Kojima.
Nerdburglars - Dan Hastings - 9 / 10
Death Stranding is a game with a fantastic and uniquely interesting story. Backed with a strong cast of experienced actors, the game manages to tell the story flawlessly. The gameplay doesn’t quite live up to the same level. The delivery aspects are fun and in its own, tells a story. It just gets quite repetitive over time and leaves you wanting a bit more diversity to the delivery missions. Overall, Death Stranding should be seen as a very successful first project for Kojima productions and is hopefully a sign of many more to come.
Next Gen Base - Ben Ward - 9.5 / 10
Death Stranding is a weird game. It won’t be for everyone, but if you can find something to like in the relatively slow start, you’ll love it by the end. Typically Kojima for better and for worse, it’s a story about reconnecting people through the eyes of a bystander that becomes much more than that. Technically and visually outstanding, it’s going to be up there on my Game of the Year list for sure. A weird, but wonderful game.
Nexus - Sam Aberdeen - 9.2 / 10
It's hard to pin down exactly what makes Death Stranding work in my mind, but a masterful presentation, stunning open world, and captivating characters contribute to one of this generation’s most unforgettable games, for better or worse.
Oyungezer Online - Ömer Akdağ - Turkish - 8.5 / 10
I haven't witnessed such creative mechanics, such a deep and meaningful scenario and high quality visuals for a long time. There are some underlying issues but I can easily say this: Kojima delivered again!
PSX Brasil - Leonardo Cidreira - Portuguese - 95 / 100
Death Stranding is certainly one of the best titles I've had the pleasure of playing in this generation and the seed responsible for creating a whole new subgenre that will undoubtedly bear beautiful fruit in the future. Hideo Kojima has excelled himself by giving us not only an exceptional story, but a vast world that is constantly changing because of the actions of the players. It is certainly not a game that will please everyone, but I can guarantee that those who get carried away by its proposal, plot and mechanics will have an unforgettable experience. Tomorrow is in your hands!
Player2.net.au - Joab Gilroy - D
Many expect things of Hideo Kojima, but it takes a degree of self-confidence to deliver something else instead. He left Konami because he wasn’t allowed to take the time and spend the money to make the game he wanted, so it is depressing to see Death Stranding make so many mistakes that appear on some level to be dictated by what people expect.
Polygon - Russ Frushtick - Unscored
Having been smitten by the core world-building gameplay of Death Stranding, I am stunned to realize that many of the game’s strongest, most appealing gameplay ideas (specifically the world-building and cooperation) are tossed aside in the final acts, in favor of a much more linear, scripted, cutscene-ridden experience. The freedom and sense of ownership I enjoyed while creating this world are dashed in favor of explaining and wrapping up a story that never had much going for it to begin with.
Post Arcade (National Post) - Chad Sapieha - 9 / 10
Hideo Kojima's first post-Konami game is deeply weird and a tad scattershot, but rarely less than compelling and absolutely unforgettable
PowerUp! - Leo Stevenson - 3 / 10
Death Stranding is not entertaining. As such, it fails as a video game, it fails as a narrative and it fails overall.
Press Start - Brodie Gibbons - 8 / 10
Hideo Kojima has long been a visionary auteur, his feted career stands as proof. With no walls to contain him, he has given birth to Death Stranding. It's an experience that will be remembered for a long time, from its early hype to the untethered lunacy of its narrative. It's an art installation of a game that filled me with rage as often as it did joy. It is sweeping in both lustre and purpose, though it wears a few warts on the pleasant, bare bones of a game about deliveries that has no right to be as memorable as it somehow is.
Push Square - Liam Croft - 10 / 10
Following years of mysterious anticipation, Death Stranding delivers on all fronts. An accomplished, fascinating set of gameplay mechanics allow you to make deliveries the way you want to, while social features let the game live on once you've put the controller down. It may become slightly tiresome as you hit the halfway mark, but the phenomenal narrative is on hand to pick things back up again and its outstanding visuals are the cherry on top. Death Stranding doesn't raise the bar for any particular genre, it creates an entirely new one.
SECTOR.sk - Tom Kunk - Slovak - 9 / 10
Long awaited launch of Kojima's project is here. With unique story and fine gameplay.
Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 8 / 10
Is it a new genre of games? Perhaps, but it definitely succeeds in presenting polished and novel, even revolutionary, ideas even if the overall experience can drag on and feel monotonous at times due to uneven story and set-piece pacing.
Screen Rant - Cody Gravelle - 5 / 5 stars
Death Stranding is dizzying, unshakable in its belief it is doing something worthwhile, and it's one of the most important games of this decade.
Shacknews - Brittany Vincent - 9 / 10
This is one of the rare times I wish Hideo Kojima had created a lengthy film or a series instead of a video game. At least then people might not approach it with trepidation or with derision. You know how it goes: "Oh, it's a video game. There's no way it can be that good."
Skill Up - Ralph Panebianco - Unscored
Kojima had the weight of the world on his shoulders; impossibly high expectations that seemed impossible to deliver on. Many are going to think he failed... I think he succeeded spectacularly.
Spaziogames - Stefania Tahva Sperandio - Italian - 9.4 / 10
Death Stranding screams Hideo Kojima in every single detail. If you are looking for a journey and an experience, something that you will hold dear for quite sometime, this is the game you have been waiting for. It may lack some variety in the quest design, but the asynchronous multiplayer and the depth of the storytelling are captivating.
Spiel Times - Caleb Wysor - 9 / 10
Death Stranding is a distorted vision of the open-world genre, pulled apart by its individual threads, deconstructed, and sewn back together in the image of its director, Hideo Kojima. It’s an astonishing, compelling and provocative experience, even if it isn’t always as exciting to play as it is to think about.
Stevivor - Steve Wright - 3.5 / 10
Even if Death Stranding’s narrative was good — and it’s not — a game needs to have actual gameplay. What you find within is abysmal; frustrating, tedious and beyond repair, it is to be avoided at all costs.
The Games Machine - Danilo Dellafrana - Italian - 8.8 / 10
Death Stranding is a good game, as well as the most ambitious work born from the mind of Hideo Kojima. It's not perfect, but successfully captures the player in a dark and fragmented world, so it's really worth fighting for.
TheSixthAxis - Tuffcub - 10 / 10
Death Stranding is like nothing I have ever played; beautiful, heart racing, heart breaking, frustrating, epic, stunning, and utterly nuts. I laughed, I cried, I cursed, and I went to the toilet an awful lot. Death Stranding isn't just my Game of the Year, it's a contender for Game of the Generation too.
TrueGaming - Arabic - 7 / 10
This is Death Stranding, a long series of what feels like a long series of essential side missions which is rather disappointing because it truly brought us an exceptional cinematic experience and a high grade production value
TrustedReviews - Jade King - 5 / 5 stars
Death Stranding is unlike anything else out there right now. It's huge, innovative and utterly unashamed in what it wants to be. Kojima Productions is heavy-handed in its implementation of modern political themes, but they tie into the narrative and involve the player in ways that feel compelling.
USgamer - Kat Bailey - 3.5 / 5 stars
Death Stranding might be Kojima's boldest game to date. It may also be his most tedious. Either way, its originality outweighs its sometimes exhausting structure and poor pacing... but only just. Maybe not a game I would recommend to everyone, but certainly one of the most interesting games of 2019.
VG247 - Kirk McKeand - 3 / 5 stars
If you do manage to hold out, you will be rewarded with flashes of brilliance, it’s just that those flashes are buried as deep as the core story is buried in the endless dialogue.
VideoGamer - Joshua Wise - 8 / 10
Death Stranding is filled with things that must be seen, a sprawling, genre-spanning sci-fi adventure from a developer like no other. It's tackier clumps of writing and stunt casting seem overwrought, but its direction and its stars shine brightest
We Got This Covered - David Morgan - 5 / 5 stars
Like any genre-pushing work of art, Death Stranding is sure to be divisive. That said, the unflinching vision of its director is a breath of fresh air in an industry increasingly unwilling to swing for the fences.
Worth Playing - Andreas Salmen - 9.1 / 10
Death Stranding is a remarkable experience. Full stop. It's the first game I've played where everything from the story to the gameplay work together as a truly cohesive product.
ZTGD - Ken McKown - 8 / 10
Kojima and his team have crafted something that truly feels unique, for better or worse. It is hard to compare it to anything else, but that doesn’t always mean it was fun. Not everyone will adore this game, but I guarantee no one will ever be able to forget it either.

Glitched Africa - Marco Cocomello - 10 / 10
Not everyone will love Death Stranding and I won’t blame you. The game is not for everyone. Some episodes take over two dozen hours to complete and the rinse and repeat delivering mechanics could be an issue for some. However, it always rewards you in some way or another. Be it with its gorgeous and detailed world that is a joy to explore or the fantastic story that unfolds as you discover everything this ambitious game has to offer. There is simply nothing else like it and to be able to dive into it all is a magnificent experience one which will define this generation of gaming.
God is a Geek - Chris White - 9 / 10
Death Stranding is an ambitious game, filled with so many different mechanics and ideas that almost always work well together. The story and acting is fantastic, and its visuals are a thing of beauty, not to mention the powerful soundtrack.
Guardian - Dan Dawkins - 4 / 5 stars
With gameplay that denies instant gratification, Hideo Kojima's unashamedly political game is this year's most interesting blockbuster game by far
Hardcore Gamer - Adam Beck - 3.5 / 5
Death Stranding is a cerebral experience that isn't fun.
Hobby Consolas - David Martinez - Spanish - 93 / 100
Death Stranding is Kojima´s most personal game. A complex and emotional work of art, which is not adequate for everyone because of the slow pace and the unusual gameplay. But once you get it, it´s something you will never forget.
IGN - Tristan Ogilvie - 6.8 / 10
Death Stranding delivers a fascinating world of supernatural sci-fi, but its gameplay struggles to support its weight.
IGN Italy - Italian - 9.8 / 10
Death Stranding is a one of a kind experience that will stick with you for years to come.
IGN Middle East - Moustafa Gad - Arabic - 7.8 / 10

2019.10.17 19:11 Xevnir I spoke to Troy Baker about how he joined Death Stranding

Hey Ludens Fans,
So I had the absolute incredible opportunity to meet one of my idols Troy Baker at comic con. When I met him I asked him if he was initially confused by the concept of Death Stranding like Mads was and how he got involved in it. He told me he was at San Diego comic con two years ago (so 2017) when he suddenly got tapped on the shoulder by Ken, Kojima's producer. When Kojima suddenly said "meet your co-star Norman Reedus". That's pretty awesome how Kojima pretty much just casted him right there - love it!
Troy said he thinks what Kojima is doing is incredibly complex and that if he can pull it off, this will be his best game to date.

2019.09.27 18:33 ItalianJoe Sam's handcuffs serial number "0524-79" from Death Stranding may be also considered as a reference to Chico's cage numberplate "Omega-2457" from Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes

Here's the screenshot i took in front of Chico's cage inside Camp Omega from Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes with the numberplate "Omega-2457" visible on its right side: - https://twitter.com/ItalianJoe83/status/841744998181789696?s=09
When I saw Norman Reedus' handcuffs close up pictures taken from Guerilla's game Horizon Zero Down on DeathStranding posted by u/cyril_002 with the serial number "0524-79" on the blue light handcuff I had a double déjà-vu about the similarities between "204863" and "63.08-24" included in this TPP-DS GPS Coordinates Connection Theory I posted long time ago and these numbers until I remembered Chico's cage numberplate which was "Omega-2457" so I thought to a possible similar connection between this two codes also based on the following factors:
Edit: original comment link posted on DeathStranding:

According Google search first result:
32nd Cannes Film Festival: "Apocalypse Now" directed by Francis Ford Coppola and "Die Biechtrommel" directed by Volker Schlondorff jointly awarded the Palme d'Or

2019.09.17 11:04 RamaAnthony New Interview of Hideo Kojima with JagadPlay, Indonesian Gaming Publication (translations inside!)

Original Article ----------
Translations (by me, sorry for my poor english):
The most iconic developer in the game industry. There’s no more apt sentence to describe Hideo Kojima. A “prestige” that isn’t too pompous considering his fantastical career for the past decades. He’s the brain behind gigantic and mesmerizing franchise such as “Metal Gear Solid” and “Zone of the Enders”. One of his signature styles is using a cinematic approach in his games that become the soul of his projects. Which sometimes exceeds big-budget Hollywood films in terms of quality. And all of that is wrapped in engaging gameplay with humour that will make you laugh and confused at the same time.
Kojima’s departure from Konami forced him to leave “Metal Gear Solid” behind and enter a new challenging foray of creativity with a lot of potentials. That creativity challenge he answered with his next game titled “Death Stranding”. Since the first teaser, it has mesmerized its audience with its mystery and it gets even more mysterious with each screenshot and trailers released that feeds into many people curiosities. Thankfully, with new gameplay that was released on TGS 2019, we now have a picture of what kind of experience we will get from “Death Stranding”.
Like a dream becoming a reality, we finally got the chance to meet Hideo Kojima in person on his studio called Kojima Productions, located in Shinigawa, Tokyo. We also got the chance to ask many questions that’s not only focused on Death Stranding but also questions about films - his favourite media. The good news? We were able to ask these questions without having a nervous breakdown, save aside from the fact that one of our biggest idols sat together with us.
We opened our interview with questions about films. We wanted to know what Kojima considered as “a good film” and how it impacts how he makes his games, including Death Stranding. Kojima said that one of his ways of knowing if a film is good or not is by “the emotional impact” it left behind, even after the film is over. Regardless of the emotions that left behind, happiness, sadness, fear, it lingers and stays in your life. Kojima said that such impact does not come from just films, but also novels and video games and he wished his video games would be able to do the same.
If you are a fan of Hideo Kojima’s game, you’d know that he loves to put “breaking the fourth wall” moments in his games. The same thing was shown on “Private Room” session on TGS 2019 - where Sam looks directly to the screen and reacts as if there’s a player with him. Of course, we are interested to hear what Kojima has to say about this particular mechanic that becomes his signature.
Kojima said that in Death Stranding you’ll be Sam, alone together with BB, forging unknown paths forward while constantly being under threat from enemies like BTs. When Sam is outside he always faces difficulties, anxieties, and fear. Something that the player will feel directly. And as a panacea for that, “Private Room” is where players will be able to feel safe and catch their breath. Sometimes the story will progress through the Private Room, but it’s designed to be player’s downtime moment. And because of that, he added gimmicks where it not only makes the player comfortable but also makes Sam comfortable.
One interesting thing about the Private Room, besides you, can control Sam (played by Norman Reedus) as your character, Kojima also designed the room to separate “you” and Sam. Death Stranding will touch upon the subjects of “body” and “soul”, especially on the mechanics where if Sam dies he’d be transported to another world and has to find his body before he can return to the world of living. Kojima said that the fourth wall elements in “Private Room” can be tied to that mechanic, where you are looking from the outside of Sam’s perspective.
We also want to know about the online connectivity requirement. As we know, the “Social Strand” genre Kojima wants to push and showcased at TGS 2019 clearly shows you can ask other players for help, or finding items they left behind. Would players with a poor internet connection will still be able to enjoy “Death Stranding”?
Without hesitation, Kojima said yes. “Death Stranding” is a game built with the structure of single-player games. You can play alone without internet connection just like any other game, but you won’t be able to receive other players help. Kojima himself recommends that players to be connected to the internet while playing as that the experience he intended, considering one of the key themes of “Death Stranding” is connection. Sure you can still play the game just like games from 20 years ago, but in this game, the core mechanic is about being connected with the outside world.
In the “Briefing” trailer that was released on TGS 2019, a lot of the story seems relevant to the current situation in our world. A fractured America, social media “likes” becoming currency, and even Sam - BB connection seems to be a representation of a father-child relationship. Is “Death Stranding” another attempt from Kojima to offer contemporary commentary? Or it’s better to be enjoyed without a thought?
Kojima said that his priority is to make “Death Stranding” fun. But he admits that there’s a lot of things he wants to comment and tell the players about. He doesn’t demand players to listen to what he has to say through his games, but he wants players to give it some thought. Hopefully, if the players thought about it, they’d be motivated to take action in the real world. Death Stranding, Kojima said, is a game about connection. Connection with the internet, connection with the community around us, connection with life and death, connection with family, connection with friends, and connection with your loved ones. Kojima wants the player to feel those connections and he admits the action he hopes the player takes will depend on where the player is and how their condition is.
With so many actors and actresses involved, we are curious about the casting process. Did Kojima create the story first then find the right actor and actress, or it’s the other way around? Kojima said that the story comes first. This is how Norman Reedus ended up in Death Stranding, who he knows since P.T that unfortunately disappeared. Kojima imagined how it’s like to have Norman portraying a character that he has written and how much adjustment he needs to make to match Norman’s personality. And there’s also case like Amelie, where Kojima has thought to cast Lindsay Wagner since the conception. But he admits he was nervous that Lindsay Wagner wouldn’t join the cast.
We also want to ask Kojima’s opinion on Death Stranding allure in the eyes of his long-time fans. With the “innovative genre” buzz that he pushed, what his long-time fans can expect, especially when Death Stranding is released?
Kojima laughs a bit at the question. He emphasized that “Death Stranding” is not a game in a “new genre”. What he will offer is something that has never been attempted in the video game industry. Kojima said that he not only want to make money, but he wants to create something that has never been made before. In the end, “Death Stranding” is just like another open-world action game that will be familiar to players who have played an open-world action game. But after playing it for a few hours, players will find something new, something they never experienced before.
Kojima admits that early in the game, “Death Stranding” will feel slow. He doesn’t hesitate to compare it with the opening scene in “Metal Gear Solid”, where Snake comes out from the water and rides the first elevator. In that scene, he intentionally doesn’t give Snake any weapons so players will realize that shooting isn’t the “main path” in “Metal Gear Solid”. He didn’t make it as extreme as that in “Death Stranding”, but it will still take hours of gameplay for players to understand what is the essence of “Death Stranding” experience. He doesn’t want gamers, especially his long-time fans to see the game as FPS or RPG. As he reinstated before, Death Stranding is an open-world action with the mission to reconnect the world.
It’s also not a secret that Hideo Kojima is a perfectionist. We are curious to know at what point he felt his creation is at the right place, where his creation has fulfilled the vision and mission he wants. Or does Kojima compromised on his vision a lot? Between small laughs, Kojima said that all creative process in a professional environment, whether it's a video game or a film, has a deadline. But those deadline allows him to set and prioritize what he has to finish. If he didn’t announce the release date a few weeks ago, he’d ended up working without a deadline. He said such acts is unprofessional.
As a film lover, we are curious what films Kojima has to pick one film, and one film only, that he thinks people should watch at some point in their life, which film he will pick?
Kojima quickly answered Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. He said that the film is not just a film, but an experience. He grew up in the Apollo era wanting to be an astronaut and saw The Monolith as the god of all creations. When he saw the film as a kid, he didn’t understand anything about it because it’s difficult to understand. But it left an emotional impact when he was young, and even when he rewatched it as an adult there are some things he still doesn’t understand, and that’s what keeps him coming back to it.
EDIT: Whoops I realized it got cut off due top characters limit and I posted the wrong link. Sorry! The rest is continued in the comments.

2019.08.29 06:46 EnglishStrand My disease theory

Do you guys have any views on the cause/reasons for the fragmented society?
My earlier theory was simple: the US government used cable, messed up, the explosion led to an apocalypse and society became divided. However, this really doesn't explain the division, does it? I can totally empathize with people forming groups of trust, or preferring to stay alone but I think a fragmented society seems a bit more dramatic.
I'm starting to wonder whether the presence of the BTs causes some kind of disease, which leads to this god awful blue skin condition.
Remember what Higgs said:
'Oh it's so hard to form connections when you can't shake hands.'
When I first heard that, it just struck me as an odd expression. It sounds quite literal as opposed to a metaphor. Is it just a figure of speech? To me it sounds like an actual physical limitation.
Also, isn't Amelie behind a glass door at the end of the Release Date trailer? Obviously the camera angle isn't ideal but it looks a lot like she's in some kind of disease control unit, or something similar. What other reason would there be for her to be behind glass?
Apparently Norman Reedus said on Twitter (I still haven't found that exact Tweet) that Sam has a fear of being touched.
I think a disease may also explain the blue skin condition and other bizarre side effects of fighting/avoiding the BTs e.g. Sam bruising when the small BT approaches him and Fragile.
Kojima keeps emphasizing 'giving our hands.' Why? Just to form a bond? Or is there a fear of touching because of a contagious disease?
I think all of the above points to a potentially severe disease. The threat of the BTs must be more then simply being eaten.
What do you think?
For those who are interested, I'm hoping to build this theory up in more depth. I'm pretty new to Reddit and Twitter but feel free to follow me on Twitter if you want to learn more :)

2019.08.19 15:47 jasonj2232 Gamescom 2019 Press Conference/Livestream Recap

Hello. Gamescom 2019 starts today with 4 Press Conferences/Livestreams:
This thread will provide a recap of what happened in each of the above events. I will update this post as the events conclude.

Nintendo Indie World Showcase

I can't find the Youtube links to all the individual games, so just watch the 23 minute showcase instead.

Inside Xbox: Live @ Gamescom

Stadia Connect

Games coming to Stadia:
Stadia will launch in November. There will be another Stadia Connect stream. A 3 minute recap of Stadia Connect.

Gamescom: Opening Night Live

Honestly, I recommend watching the entire Gamescom Opening Night Live stream. They revealed a lot of info about the games they showed in the conversation/interview between Geoff and the devs.

The End.

That's it for today folks. That's all the streams recapped. This was quite a fun project tbh. I know the thread needs a bit more formatting and I need to link the videos, but I've been in front of my computer for nearly 7 hours now, so I'm gonna log off for a while. I'll come back later and link the trailers and do the formatting. Goodbye and thanks for all the kind words and rewards.
